Liandra i the Arena
The arena really shows the weakness of the combat system, laggy damage iffy hitboxes, complete inability to generate stam. Feel like this arena fight is just a stat check for end game weapons.

Has anyone had any luck beating it?

With spear you can generate stamina per hit.

Liandra was the toughest arena fight by far, mainly because her magic goes straight through your defenses. The arena Gladiator Armor is OP as hell here with 90% damage reduction, but it only reduces physical. The one piece of advice I can give is that her orb spell has a dead spot close to her body, so if you hug her from above or below you should be safe, just not when the thing is first cast. I just avoided the fire and DPS raced her with a spear I had stolen from the arena champion (that's another story, fighting her proper in the arena was WAY easier).

Anyway, yes it's a stat check (somewhat), but it doesn't require endgame at all.

And that helps the other weapon options how?

Stamina is a problem period for most weapons. It's even worst with multiple enemies. Like when you're fighting 7 draugr and 2 colossus to get a stupid Naruto mask...

Shield doesn't cost stamina if you perfect block, but multiple enemies can just attack you at once ans 1 hit gets blocked and the other stamina breaks you since you can't perfect block both since the timing is different. There is no grace period on basically anything in this game.

So in the end. the whole game is a stat check since skill just wastes time, just have the stats to win before the game mechanics make you lose.

It is better to wait with Liandra fight until the chapter where you already have rune and can use magic. And what I found best is combo of Bow / Fiery Shout. The bow is great for two things in this fight: It generates focus quickly by shooting and hitting and you can use it for magic. Second this is that you need not to be close to Liandra, especially at later phase of the fight where she keeps summoning those revolving lights around her that damage you.

Before I tried this I could not win anyhow. With this method it was a piece of cake. And it is actually funny that you beat her with her own weapon lol.

I do the arena on chapter 4 and all fights was easy with a great axe and the master skill in axe to generate focus I use the jump spell to dodge attacks. Ada was the only enemy where the fight takes longer as 1 Minute.
