Any respec mechanic in the game?
As the title says, I would like to know if there is a respec for the skill system? Thanks in advance : )

I can see, why respecing is a point people would like to see, yet I like to add a perspective:

Imagine yourself being the hero/person of this game and wandering around, learning certain skills like lockpicking or fighting with a shield while traversing through the world and using what you have learned to prosper and survive. You overcome certain hardships with what you have learned, while avoiding others (like not working in a mine, aka prospecting) or finding different approaches, rather than using magic, and therefor you have a certain experience - like real life.
It would kinda be less immersive, if you somehow manage to become a magical nuke in an instant while being a two-handed broad fighter a second ago - as the single person in the whole world - while everything else stays the same and reacts the same to you as well.

In short, try to look at the missing ability of respecting as a way to experience the game in different approaches and therefor getting immersered differently. :)
With that being said, I can still relate, as people value their time and kinda fear of making bad decissions in game as there is no clear knowledge about, what may be worthwile or not.^^

I would also like to know. Would be useful to try different fighting styles before picking one.

There's no respecing in the game at the moment. We've heard a lot of suggestions about it but I can't really comment either way on that, it may be too big of a change to the systems to consider working in (outside of mods). But the devs are aware of the suggestion.

Respec would be unfair.
How about respecing after you stole everything and don't need lockpicking anymore?
Or respec after you mined all silver and ore and don't need prospecting anymore?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I honestly only care about lockpicking and potion making. I haven't felt the need of leveling other than the Axe. Axes are very strong.

Honestly I got way too used to normal rpgs where respec is a thing and after playing a bit of this game and feeling incredible immersed I kinda understand the no respec thing. It does add more to the feeling of the game, especially considering how you actually learn abilities through the NPCs in the game. Amazing answer by the way, thanks : )

Thank you for the kind reply. :)

I get the "against" respec, but sometimes it's something else. Like I chose 2h axe because I THOUGHT it was what would be more fun - but then after many spent points realized I would rather have used sword and shield.

Now I would have to start over, which I don't generally do in games.

So the result is I Just don't want to continue playing.

This. I decided to use spear because I thought that it has longer range that 1-handed sword. Imagine my surprise when I am spamming my spear attacks on enemy and can't reach them, but they can reach me with their sword. All while both of us are standing still (enemy might be barely moving by several pixels towards me though).

If I knew that range of sword is the same (or only several pixels less), then I would have kept using a sword.

I think game should have some kind of weapon sage master that can let you forget skills in weapons, but only if you immediately respec them into a different weapon. If you try to forget weapon skills to invest new learning points into lockpicking, this shouldn't work.

Seems like a fair trade. I would simply be trading the axe ones for sword and shield ones.

100% needed, but only regarding weapon specific skills. I just want the freedom to try the different weapon specialities before commiting; there's nothing worse in an RPG than spending hard earned XP on a skill and later realizing that said skill isn't for you. Now you either continue using it regardless, or you start over with another skill that will never be as good as it could have been because you have wasted XP elsewhere - either way your experience will be lessened.

RPGs like this without a respec system get an instant "go ♥♥♥♥ yourself" reaction from me. Its 2024. Stop wasting my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time.

I mean, it is meant to be more old school but I feel like it would help the game. I didn't quit playing. Still enjoying it just using the axe but would like the ability to try something else.
