Finding the missing weapons quest

Hello there currently playing on Switch. Don't want to spoil where or when. But in a main area the finding the missing weapons quest. There is a door beyond a hatch underground that is marked as "i can't find a mechanism to open this" or "it'll be harder that to open this door". As your progress the quest and NPC will open it to follow them. After a fight for me the first door will not open and is marked by the same dialog as if the NPC never opened it and I'm just stuck. If anyone has a work around or something I'd appreciate the help.

Did you find a workaround? I have the same problem right now.. and I can't load back to a previous save, the two autosaves have the bug already, and my only other save is almost at the beginning of the game...
