Critical Damage?
Does anyone know what's the crit multiplier for different weapons? The tooltip says it differs for each weapon, daggers seem to be doing 2x or 2.5x but I really can't tell.
Debating either going full str or splitting between str and dex, so far str seems to be a far superior option because dex doesn't give you that much crit chance, but I do like me some nice and juicy crits

Brother let me help clear the fog a bit. Both are mutually beneficial to eachother. Dex increases crit chance and strength increases the damage of your crits by upping base damage.

I don't think splitting equally is good though, so try this. Have a main stat and then have a secondary stat. Think of it like investing 3 points into the main stat on lvl up and 1 point into the secondary stat.

yea no that makes sense but I feel like its not that simple and you kinda have to math it
Going full str doesn't depend on dex, you'll just do a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of damage that won't fluctuate much
If you go for the 3:1 split with, say, 100 LP, not counting the default 5 points you have, you'll have 75 str (roughly 112% bonus damage, depending on soft caps but whatever) and 25 dex (roughly 7.5% crit chance) now I don't feel like that's really worth it and you'd be better just putting everything into str oooor you can
do it the other way around, which may actually make more sense, hence the reason I'm trying to figure out whats the damage multiplier for crits for different weapons

idk my time in various games tells me even 1% increase to crit chance is pretty massive.
Also don't forget there are perma stat enhancements in the game like the potions you can brew that give +3 to some stats.

And here I am planning a 50/50 split str+dex. I wonder how that'll turn out

If you go for the "stable and reliable" strength route, axes should fit perfectly as they give you a plain damage bonus and don't rely on crits for their extra features.
If you prefer to "gamble for crits", daggers or swords profit more from dex and crits.
But I'ld choose strength and axes (hit multi targets at once and have more weapon range).
So only put points and potions into dex, if you can't boost strength otherwise.

And what stats distribution for spears?

Strength with dex as secondary, which is pretty univeral for all but daggers due to attack speed. There really isn't much build variety in this game, all three stats contribute readily to how much damage you do.

I wouldnt waste my time with Dex. Stack str to 50 and mind to 80 and then go unarmed all the way - once you get the trinket that goes with unarmed nothing comes close to the damage every hit is a crit. Wear a shield on your offhand and light armour so you dont loose 50% damage to stance from heavy armor.

Some people write that Dex is great for Spears

Unarmed must have shi-tty reach though right?
Im going sword and board, but since i got the rune im investing everything on mind, nothing beats a good lightning storm and flame breath, does a ton of damage and some fights you have to move all the time, too many enemies to swing your weapon around.
