Well Puzzle north of the Lumberjack camp

north of the lumberjack camp in the marsh, there is a ruin, with a plaque telling a story about a sure footed ram Avelius fighting his brothers cruelty. below it is an interactible well taht asks you to put an item into it. Does anyone have a clue what to do here? i didn't have any items that seemed related to the story on the plaque, and despite chucking half my inventory down the well nothing seemed to work, so when i find it will the item be obvious?? or is it guess work?
