Listen to sound cues cause Mandragoras sing when you are near.
Audio: You hear a distinct humming (it's the same for all mandragora), and it gets louder the nearer you are to it! Especially at night or low light, it's hard to see where the mandragora specifically is!
Visual: Three broad, flat leaves on the ground sprouting from a spot. It is as small a person's width. If you lack good (i.e. Act IV) armor, get ready to either dodge or get ear protection and save beforehand!
Henrik's quest involves getting a mandragora! (That Nemeton guy south of Nemeton, as part of the Nemeton faction quests that will autofail if you join the Remnants in Act I)
I hear there are 8 in the game, two from merchants! (i.e. Bombus in a later act, and that one seller SW outside Nemeton)
It took me 18 reloads to get anything else but coins, and that was a diamond. Another 10 to get substantially different amount of coins: it said 64 + 38. Then another 10 reloads and only coins and one piece of leather shred. Then I gave up.
Savescum breaking crates AND THEN savescum pouches would therefore seem to shame even the most exquisite masochistic practices
Some mandragora are amidst similar colored backgrounds, some are obvious in the open--but their size and leafiness may be difficult to see anyway, due to fog, light levels, attention, and other factors.
