Arena question..

Okay before I give up on this frustrating game..
How does one start doing arena battles?!
I've just joined Nemeton and started act 3.
I go to the arena, I talk to the arena master and every time he just offers to let you place a bet. The dev says "wait until x and then talk" but that doesn't change anything.
Can someone post a bit-by-bit guide on what to do?!

From what I understood you had to do it in act 2, but I skipped act 2, because I didn't know, so I was in a similar situation, doing the Bonded chain in act 1 and thus completely skip act 2 and go directly from act 1 to act 3. So I couldn't do whatever I was supposed to do in act 2 for the arena quests.

However, once you get to act 4 and talk to the arena master again he gave me the option to start the quest chain.

You need to go to the Fighters area in Nemeton, and get them to choose you as the person to send to the arena. I did it in Act 2, not sure if 3 is too late. You fight a couple people in Nemeton and they decide you're strong enough, then you can go to the Arena.

I also did it in Act 2 and right now i have pending 2 fights before the arena, only 15 hrs in so far though, still act 2
