Go let an enemy smack you. Then put on the heavy armor and let them smack you.
Stance is that yellow bar enemies have, when you're using heavy armor it halves the damage you do to that yellow bar, not the red one which is the enemies life points
It means you get reduced stance damage. Which means you can take way more punches until you get stunned. I think heavy armor is the most useful in this game, since the defense stats are so much better then the stats from the other armours and you get less stance damage on top of it. The armour with lots of runes is really only useful, if you mainly level up mind, which will be hard for many players, since you can only reliably use magic in act 4, which is late game. The light armour is okayish, but only lets you dodge 2 more times (so 5 instead of 3 dodges with full stamina). Since the defensive stats are so much worse, I would go for heavy anyway. Only reason for light armour would be to use the trinket, that lets you deal double damage after dodging.
Ow sh*t i thought it was they way i said it, but that makes more sense because of what Magus Coldfire said
Dodging is less useful than raw defense because enemies spam attacks and that makes dodging them less important (and harder), if they were bound to the focus mechanic i think it would be a nice build to do.
Also, if leveling up dex gave you some more stamina points it would vastly improve the usefulness of dodging.
I didn't realise I even had "stance". There's no bar for it. I don't think I've ever noticed myself being stunned.
