They added it into the game officially. When you start a new game, just switch the time to the last available option which should be endless mode. Everyone can try it out now.
I'm not sure how programming works though so I'm not sure how possible this is. Just a suggestion.
First of all, the Endless Mode is fantastic. Simply making the time unlimited without changing the existing gameplay has greatly improved the playing experience. In the original limited time mode, the game became very hectic, which was a fatal flaw for players who wanted to cultivate strong marriages (later on, when there's a shortage of people, I even wished for villagers to initiate divorces to increase the matchmaking pool). With Endless Mode, I can slow down and focus more on taking care of each villager's love life and preferences.
As for areas that could be improved, I'll list them below:
Villager Deaths:
I feel that the current death system is severely lacking consideration. Firstly, not being able to view the attributes and jobs of deceased villagers makes it much harder to replace their roles. Additionally, the lack of explanation for the causes of death leaves players in the dark about how to prolong villagers' lives. Most importantly, whether in limited or unlimited mode, when the game reaches around 40 years due to the age of the first settlers, a wave of deaths occurs, resulting in a massive shortage of workers, and at the same time, a large number of widows/widowers emerge. Quickly filling the job gaps requires spending a lot of love points on matchmaking, and the shortage of skilled workers leads to a vicious cycle of decreased life spans for new villagers (The repetitive and tedious process of dating in large quantities within a short period greatly accelerates the feeling of boredom with the game. The production of love points is also far from keeping up with the rate of population deaths). In my opinion, this stage is the most frustrating part of the game, to the extent that it makes me want to stop playing. I haven't come up with a reasonable solution yet, but I hope the game development team can improve this unpleasant experience.
Population Cap and Family Tree:
The population issues and family tree related to the Endless Mode have been mentioned by many and need to be addressed.
Increasing Upgrades and Playability:
Making significant changes to the Endless Mode and adding completely new features may be difficult and time-consuming. However, I believe that increasing the variety of appearances and adjusting values can enhance the playability of the existing unlimited time mode. For example, spending resources to change the appearance of existing buildings (e.g., transforming simple wooden huts into beautiful brick houses) and adding higher health and mood bonuses to upgraded structures compared to the old ones would make the villagers in the upgraded village healthier and happier. This will undoubtedly provide the motivation for me to continue playing.
Royalty:
Currently, the royalty feature doesn't have much to offer other than producing diamonds. In Endless Mode, without the pressure of time constraints, I'm even reluctant to invest manpower in being a king or queen since it doesn't seem to have any impact on the game. It would be great to add features like issuing decrees or dealing with exiled villagers to make the royalty aspect more engaging. It's an interesting concept, and it would be a shame to waste its potential. Additionally, I'm really curious if the noble titles page that appeared in the demo will be further developed.
Diamond Buildings:
What's the use of diamonds in Endless Mode? We can never obtain them, so buildings that produce diamonds are as meaningless as the royalty feature.
Prestige:
The current use of prestige to unlock pictures lacks attractiveness, and prestige needs to have more integrated purposes with gameplay to motivate players to keep playing continuously. Just like being able to use prestige to unlock seasons, for example, spending five prestige points to change the entire map into a spring or winter scenery.
Oh... And I really wish there was a hotkey to temporarily hide building information on the world map. In the late game, when all the buildings are constructed, the map gets cluttered with all the information panels. This world is so beautiful, but I can't even see its full view😞.
English is not my native language, so I apologize for any mistakes.
I just finished playing for ~2 hours and got almost up to year 30 in my game with ~60 villagers. The only bug/issue I've encountered so far is with the character portraits. The event pop-ups and portraits when you click on the career buildings will sometimes not show up (show a blank square) or will show the wrong villager. This definitely isn't game-breaking but I wanted to bring it up!
Not a bug, but I wish there was a way to save without quitting (apologies if there is and I just missed it) as I'm saving a lot this playthrough just in case the game crashes.
In all, my game runs super smoothly and I'm having a lot of fun!
For your issue with the portraits, could you send us your Lakeburg Legacies' folder in ZIP/archive version?
Your Lakeburg Legacies' folder can be found here: %Appdata%/../LocalLow/Ishtar Games/
You can send it to us by email at support@ishtar.games
Thanks!
Just sent my folder in an email.
Another issue with endless mode is that there are limited upgrades so you can have a village too large to feasibly feed even with max upgrades and staffing in all buildings.
