how does surrendering/escape work
Just curious if there's more to the escape mechanic. From what I've seen, it looks like you can only attempt an escape if you surrender, which is something you have to do on purpose; whereas losing HP always takes you to a game over/retry screen, that you can't escape from. So I'm wondering what the point of surrendering is, in gameplay terms. Aside from a player just wanting to be tied up, why would you ever surrender instead of just running away?

I think it is just a fan request to make their character being tied up in various poses and running away in that state.

It's neccessary for Achievements Hunters ;D

While i love this function myself it is still somewhat questionable why any of the girls would ever surrender when the death rate of doing so is 100%.

Sure the could pray that someone rescues them before the get killed but then running away would be the "slightly" better Option.

Yeah, that's kind of what bugged me, I guess. Doesn't make sense that they would surrender, and doesn't make sense for the player either. So I would probably do it once out of curiosity to try escaping, and then have no incentive to do it again. On the other hand, if it were possible to escape from some of the defeat scenes, it would be worth trying even if I lost by accident, and would be more interesting than just reloading the game.

For a Ryona game, it is to be expected that the surrender option is optional if you want to see your character tied or tortured by the enemy that comes to you.

It is also used to unlock an achievement in the game if you're lucky enough to escape and have an NPC from a camp or town to unbind you.

Well it's kind of sexy if a strong warrior is just being submissive to the Enemy instead of splitting their Skull in half. Same reason why i like the process of losing in H Games. While some Games unlocks Lose Scenes automatically if you don't lose and just do what you are supposed to do in a rpg aka : win the fight. It just ( for me ) doesn't feel the same if i did not really lose against the Boss and instead just watch the Scene.

Simply put Surrendering and or getting tied up by the Enemy is a Fetish. It is just a shame that instead of getting dragged to the Enemy Camp we just get a Black screen+ Game Over.

Especially because some people have trouble escaping thanks to Graphic Lags. Which would be solved entirely. when the enemy would actually need to bring you back to the camp, since everyone would have enough time to escape that way.

I understand all that, but losing and surrendering are separate things in this game. And I don't understand why escaping is exclusively an option available after surrendering, but not after losing. It makes no sense. If anything, surrendering is a minor convenience for those who want to lose without waiting for their HP to drop, but why lock the escape option to the surrender mechanic?

Because your Character is knocked out at the best outcome if you hit zero HP. You can't expect the Girls to escape when the are in the enemy camp completly bound to some restraints.

Sure the Dev could have added Options to escape even if you are tied to a Pillar after waking up or whatever the enemy do to you, but that is not what this Game is about. You lose and you are done for, that is the simple cruel message of the Game.

Being able to escape would not only tone down the atmosphere it would also make all this captured heroines hanging around in the enemy camps look like complete morons for being unable to escape.

Sure, I just wish there was a better incentive to use the escape mechanic. It's not available when it's needed, and when it is available, it's probably the result of the player attempting it on purpose. It's a neat idea, but if it's not part of the main gameplay loop, it's just a novelty.

Also, the previous game literally starts with the PC escaping from an enemy camp.

True but the PC is only bound by some rope and can still walk and run away at the start of ED2. Which is the exact same situation a player finds himself into if he escapes after surrendering.

Ed2 Opening is way better by the way. Pretty sure 99% of the ED3 Players easily kicked that elite orcs ass only to just suddenly "lose".

Are there any enemies in the game that actually let you surrender and not give you a retry screen? My friend who's playing hasn't bumped into any.
