You get more Cults to use in crafting by sending a Cultist next to a city and then activate a skill that takes 2 turns. After that the unit disappears, you get +20 reputation, and you get Cult.
Yeah, good question. It's all still a little fuzzy for me. Maybe there's a good YouTube tutorial video on all this new DLC stuff?
I don't remember which demons specifically though
1 tier 1 demon and 2 tier 2 demons, all melee except one of the tier 2 demons has a 3-line attack also. They cannot earn experience, but have mana upkeep so the best use is to put them as tower guards early game when you have money upkeep problems IMHO.
The occultism spell pages give you 3 options: Core Dwellers (Tier 2 ranged/melee), Aether Beasts (Tier 3 spellcaster), and a Demon Lord (Tier 4). I liked to transform my initial Goblins into Core Dwellers after they reached level 15, which made them useful even in the late game. And the starter goblins have Follower, which negates the mana upkeep too.
The Chaos Alter gives you access to Ashen Ones (Tier 1), Horned Beasts, and Core Dwellers (Tier 2).
The fourth occultism page has the Pandemonium global spell, which lets you hire Gargoyles (Tier 1), Horned Chargers (Tier 2), Wendigo, and Gluttons (Tier 3).
Besides spells, you can also find occultist shops, which sometimes sell Tier 1 or Tier 2 demons.
One of the occultism spells allows fantastic units to level up. I think it's the third spell page so you'll probably not get them for a moment. It's definitely a thing where there are A LOT of amazing spells from that book though. It's definitely a thing that feels very tempting and powerful, and it's kind of hard to give the spells a pass.
The third page gives you access to the Aether Beast sacrificial spell; while the fourth page has Pandemonium and the Demon Lord summon.
That's 5/16 occultism spells relating to summoning demons. Just keep playing and they'll unlock as you research stuff.
You can use the Occultism spell book (for demon units) as a necromancer if you were so inclined.
That said, the demon lord unit you can get from Occultism page 4 does have 3 demon slots (for demonology demons).
