New to DCL - questions
How do you get more cults?
How do you get more cultist?

I'm wondering what actually happens when you sacrifice your cultist (start with only 1) when next to a town to start a cult?

Thanks

Cultists are unlocked by doing the class Demonologist tasks, they're basically the same as the various Minions the other classes can summon. You get them very early.

You get more Cults to use in crafting by sending a Cultist next to a city and then activate a skill that takes 2 turns. After that the unit disappears, you get +20 reputation, and you get Cult.

I don't wanna hijack but I'd like to ask a question here. How do you actually make demon units? You can make demons that can be equipped to certain units you hire or find. But how do you actually produce demon fighter units as a demonologist?

Yeah, good question. It's all still a little fuzzy for me. Maybe there's a good YouTube tutorial video on all this new DLC stuff?

ok, found answer to one question. The Cult 'type' ingredients are always there. Just need to more varieties later. I was thinking there was just one 'Prophet of the New Age' ingredient.

The Occultism spellbook has a spell which lets you hire demons. The Chaos Altar spell turns a Ritual Altar hex into a Chaos Altar. If the Chaos Altar is in your Domain, you can hire the demons.

I don't remember which demons specifically though :steamsad: (I deleted that save)

1 tier 1 demon and 2 tier 2 demons, all melee except one of the tier 2 demons has a 3-line attack also. They cannot earn experience, but have mana upkeep so the best use is to put them as tower guards early game when you have money upkeep problems IMHO.

The occultism spell pages give you 3 options: Core Dwellers (Tier 2 ranged/melee), Aether Beasts (Tier 3 spellcaster), and a Demon Lord (Tier 4). I liked to transform my initial Goblins into Core Dwellers after they reached level 15, which made them useful even in the late game. And the starter goblins have Follower, which negates the mana upkeep too.

The Chaos Alter gives you access to Ashen Ones (Tier 1), Horned Beasts, and Core Dwellers (Tier 2).

The fourth occultism page has the Pandemonium global spell, which lets you hire Gargoyles (Tier 1), Horned Chargers (Tier 2), Wendigo, and Gluttons (Tier 3).

Besides spells, you can also find occultist shops, which sometimes sell Tier 1 or Tier 2 demons.

One of the occultism spells allows fantastic units to level up. I think it's the third spell page so you'll probably not get them for a moment. It's definitely a thing where there are A LOT of amazing spells from that book though. It's definitely a thing that feels very tempting and powerful, and it's kind of hard to give the spells a pass.

I prefer to let demons level up via the Enigma greater demon (upgraded from the Paradox demon, which is Elemental/Death/Arcane).

Well, I am not that impressed by demons to bother with upgrading souls for them to level up, they cannot heal naturally and I rely a lot on healing, 70 HP AoE heal from Priest/Shaman is overpowered.

I still don't get it, 2 months into the campaign, I still don't have spells to make units, can't use the altar, and the possession demon aren't doing anything even when levelled up. I don't know, I don't get this game...

Well... are you researching and using spells?

yea but they don't summon or make demon units

There should be 4 total Occultism spell pages. And if your main school is Occultism, you'd start with access to the Core Dweller sacrificial spell and the Chaos Alter.

The third page gives you access to the Aether Beast sacrificial spell; while the fourth page has Pandemonium and the Demon Lord summon.

That's 5/16 occultism spells relating to summoning demons. Just keep playing and they'll unlock as you research stuff.

Should be noted that demon units aren't really connected to demonology, Demonology is all about possession.

You can use the Occultism spell book (for demon units) as a necromancer if you were so inclined.

That said, the demon lord unit you can get from Occultism page 4 does have 3 demon slots (for demonology demons).
