And since the Paradox demon can only execute units of an equal or lower tier, you can only execute a Titan if you put the Paradox demon on a Titan or Apprentice/Hero. If going the latter route, they can only get the demon via a possessed item.
As for demon lords, they are prominent features if you enable them. For the most part, they provide alternate paths for fulfilling the victory conditions in the game.
