more than necromancy?
I see a number of comments on the necromancer being fun and maybe more effective than the other classes. I generally dislike necromancer characters in fantasy games, and i'm concerned that the good comments about gameplay mostly come from those who favor necromancers. Are all three classes good? Opinions welcome.

Alchemist is probably the strongest class.

I've not played alchemist but sandman has. He's very good at the game and it's his favorite iirc. They can produce items to spam in fights that end the game very fast.

Artificer gives you unrestricted access to glyphs for the whole game. You can buff your units far easier than the other two can and you have a lot of flexibility since you can resocket them.

Necro has a slow and challenging start with the payoff being strong, large armies mid to late game.

Tl;dr yes they are all good.

Necromancer is the best in game variety category. 20 extra types of units is not a joke, some of them have elemental, physical and even white damage type, and the idea of reducing enemy morale and then using mind control or death attacks is extremely fun. Also Necromancer can have 2 more units in each army comparing to other classes and has access to multiple units without upkeep.
All 3 classes are good, yes. Alchemist is the easiest IMHO because of sacred water potion and ability to craft any ingredients for room extentions.

Thank you, but I am not that good. I still need to beat the game without reloads.

Especially Nature Alchemist.

With that said, Necro is probably the most fun to me. They are all good.

Alchemist
  • focus on allfire, I think you may have 1000+ allfire if you clear the map and plant enough trees
  • potions are helpful in early battles, but the value reduces by time

Necromancer
  • early game is VERY hard because UD units won't heal automatically and you don't have good souls to craft UD units, things get better when you have certain landmarks and room upgrades
  • craft some Vampire Acolythes ASAP, battles become much easier
  • some T3 UD units are too powerful, but when you survive long enough to craft them, you may not need them anymore actually

Artificer
  • somewhat weak at the beginning because ores and materials will take some time
  • Corrupted Glyph: Leader and Pathfinder totally break the game :steamhappy:
  • 1 Adamantium is needed for the main quest
  • you may have to do manual battles a lot to keep units alive because the auto resolver sucks

All 3 classes are good.

Necro relies on getting workers to harvest resources and then getting high level souls by exploring bone piles on the map to get early t2 or t3 units.

Do you mean Necromancer does not rely on workers? They are the least worker-dependent class, since you can get high level souls through combat and exploration. Whereas harvesting is just a secondary means of getting ingredients.

Sacred water potion is great all game.

1 Adamantium is needed for the main quest
It does not depend on class, everyone needs 1 adamantium for the main quest

1.No. Alchemists can learn that as a skill, much better than using an item
2.Yeah you are right about the last part

Good luck doing it with alchemists

The description at game start character selection really says it all. alchemist make potions to win fights, the lore-master or whatever like to keep his units and enhance them with trinkets and such, the necromancer throws its units at the enemy mercilessly to weaken them for the brave necromancer to step in for the kill.
