For demons, there's:
(1) Some apprentices with the "occultist" trait, which allows them to summon a demon in combat
(2) a non-apprentice hero possessed by a demon who, at the end of the quest, can remain in demon form indefinitely at the end
(3) some units (as someone noted, orc shaman) can get the ability
(4) demons you can control by beating them with units that have the "slaver" trait. However, this gets you demons with weaker than usual stats
(5) certain quest events, as someone noted.
I always try to go for at least one Aether Beast (lvl3). It's absolutely fantastic support unit. Lowered stats don't matter for him as he's not damage dealer, in fact being enslaved is a plus, since he can be then rallied for an extra turn. As long as you drop morale of enemy unit to yellow, he will turn it to your side for the duration of battle. This can be major in vital encounters.
They are a bit boring, though, since they don't level up.
They are Human.
Fixable with Follower spell or level up choice.
This means the Artificer (with the Corrupted Slaver Glyph) is the only class capable of regularly getting demons.
Ah never paid attention to that, got it way too late in my last play through.
They can be mind controlled for the duration of battle, but not enslaved for afterwards, I think.
Correct me if I am wrong.
