Diminishing returns and levelup resistances
So currently the resistances gained by levelup are impacted substantially by diminishing returns. The result is that utilising races to counter specific enemies becomes a lot harder, as the resistances per levelup were not that high to begin with. Weirdly enough, this affects different types of resistance differently, as some resistances are typically gained through levels while others can be attained in different ways. For example I cannot think of physical resistance per levelup and elemental resistance just doesn't matter that much with the 100% buff. When considering dark and especially light resistance, though, a different pattern emerges. I can only recall 1 unit with light immunity in the game and this used to be pretty beneficial to specifically level up humans(or elves) to deal with enemy stacks focussed on light and the associated silence debuff. Don't get me wrong, I understand and (mostly) agree with the diminishing returns for other sources. However levelups should probably be exempt, as this reduces their usefulness substantially compared to other levelups (notably, the races which stack light/dark resistance were never a part of the problem when it came to resistance stacking before.
Actually another option here would be to increase the resistance increase granted by levelups, to better overall effect.

I dunno, I can get resistances of 90% or so with level ups, which is pretty darn close to immune. It does take more deliberate effort though. For example, New Purity units would originally take only 2 White Resistance levelups to reach 100%. Now they end up with ~80%.

Hmm... assuming 20% starting resistance, with 3 upgrades of 25% resistance we'd be at 66% resistance. Not bad, but certainly a rather high investment

I wasn't worth it before (just 1 resistance out of 4, better spend feats on willpower), it's definitely not worth it now imo.

Yeah, that was also my concern

Willpower is generally good against weak enemies, due to how it works (subtracting from attack power). Resistances are good against all enemies, but needs to be paired with the right enemies.

I will generally take Resistances first, then Willpower, then Armor. And then I form my armies to counter the expected enemy types. If you are looking for a kill-all type of army composition, these don't exist anymore (which I consider a good thing).

I don't necessarily disagree, however, currently this is discouraged and buffs for resistances are substantially higher in impact than resistancebased army composition. A comparison: to achieve the 50% from a buff we'd need no less than 3 (2,5) levelups to achieve 50% resistance. The better choice is usually to get the resistances from buffs which cost 1 levelup for 2+ individuals with 50%+ resistance.
