Motivation for playing something other than Artficer?
Creating glyths feels like something that has no direct comparison in other specialization - you get flexibility with every unit, you can rip out the glyths. Glyths are incredibly powerful - corrupted vampire + lifegiver is insane, movement glyths allow you explore.
What do other specializations offer that is comparable?

alchy can do potions that give range to archers, plus negates distance

necro makes T3 units, plus extra army slot, only necro gives army size of 8

its funny the best glyths i had, i found in drops not built myself

Strange question. Would you like to explore new mechanics, new tactics, even new strategies?
For instance, as default Alchemist I had hundreds of gold spamming free beasts and sacred water, as default Artificer I had income of -90 gold per turn and my best stack was moving 30 hexes per turn to fight as many fights as possible to earn gold and research from each, as default Necromancer I don't use any gold issues because my units have mana upkeep.

But glyphs give same ranged bonus and you don't need to use consumables or action to get it.

While necro suffers from issue of RNG to get healing effect for their troops

I have mentalist artificer and upkeep isn't an issue. All of my stacks are free.

Cool. Now ask yourself if you want to play a game without that spell where you will need to do different things. For instance, I have never used that spell in my 70 hours so I am interested in playing a game with it to see how it changes things. Variety is great for replayability, for me it is boring to do the same things every time, I rather switch to another game in this case.

No point of playing this game without that spell unless patches change drastically on how much resources we gain or how the upkeep system work.

How do you even get that spell in every game? Always starting with page in mentalism?

Easy to get mentalist pages in the game and I always choose mentalist as primary school.

Glyphs aren't unique to artificers, it's just easier to get the ones you want.

As for comparisons, Necromancers are able to customize their units through the souls they use. Different souls give different abilities to the unit that is created. Using a Pure Vigorous Soul for example gives the unit defy death, This unit now has the same effect that corrupted vampire gives without taking up a glyph slot.

I think undead unit crafting with custom souls that necromancy gets supposed to work similarly, however I couldn’t make it work as undead units are too limited by massive resistance penalties and difficult healing.

The great thing about alchemy is that it makes it much easier to build room additions in the tower and some of those rooms are pretty powerful. It's also pretty darned easy to unlock the ultimate building for alchemy. Even if you're playing the traditional model of a nature mage then you unlock the kennel building which will give you follower beasts 'on all beasts' regardless of how powerful making it probably the most powerful effect in the game. If you're playing as an enchanter then you can get the arcane library probably the second most powerful building in the game and you can make more than one.

The necromancer gets a lot of custom souls from defeating quest leaders if you take the option which you should because it doesn't have a downside, these souls give massive bonuses to the unit when created and let you create the most powerful undead. While it's very difficult to unlock the necromancer final building due to the extreme rarity of pristine feral souls you can still create their best units without it.

Well you see artificers get additional glyth slot and you don't need to farm for specific soul. and I can customize the unit further without being at mercy of RNG gods to give me needed glyths

I would if they the alternative gameplay wasn't a gimped version of the artificers gameplay
It's like hardmode even if you play in hardmode =D

~There is a glyth for that too~ and it's not consumable and you don't need to manually use it all the time

Well, spamming free moleriders nonstop and then using as many sacred water potions as needed is extremely far from hard mode )

It's not alchemy it's nature mage and one of the spell pages has the kennels which when upgraded gives all beasts the follower trait so no upkeep.
