Of course, the question is whether the devs will address it.
they never get as big as them tho. you end up fighting size 7 armies pretty fast.
the armies i found less of an issue to be honest.
one tip, if you want faster reputation, there is ALWAYS an inn around the city, FIND IT and setup a lodge with the inn in the aura. it looks like a building with 1 gold icon and 2 small shields next to it.
you get +2 reputation per day as long as it's in your control, some area may even have more than 1 inn. sometimes its just next to the town, sometimes its a bit further, but it will help regardless.
like that seven fort Vale city... if you do the quests around, you get 2, the 2 being able to keep them + other buildings in a single lodge.
i think the lodge in that city is giving a total of
- 4 reputation per day (so you can use spells that remove reputation for gold/armies for instance)
- 3 gold (infinite)
- 2 mana (infinite)
- 4 research (infinite)
- 5 proficiency (infinite)
it's a pretty sweet spot if i do say so.
in my game at week 25 i have maxed reputation with like 4 cities already.
Sevenkeep (north of Alluvyan or west of goldenfields) gives you access to the buff weapon to light and also let you recruit Keepers (t3 cavalry) at any time from your tower. you can hire some priestess too.
Alluvyan (alluvyan Area) Gives you a Garden Building for your tower (free herbs every weeks, and some upgrades to get more types of herbs for free each week) ... generally useful as it serves to craft regardless of what specialization you picked.
City of Lyraine (goldenfields Area) Gives you the Human Barrack Building, which lets you recruit pretty much what the city has to offer, best upgrade includes recruitement of hallebardier/paladin/alchemist, and the possibility to get 2 free potion per weeks.
i would say the alchemist bench is top notch on its own. and unless you want to use paladin you could go for 3 alchemist bench either for the potion themselves, or the ressources they provide for crafting.
Audale (in gillyshare) provides a barrack not sure what it provides yet havent built it since i have no space for it.
Connach (southwatch) not sure yet, but they do provide assortment of enslaved beasts .. and i saw a matriarch spider once there (t3) which had innate vampirism to her attacks and was boosting all units with "brood" status.
Orgash (misty Coast) gives you an orcish Barrack to recruit their units. not sure about upgrades. and slavers are great to roam against trash (especially the one attacking your domain if you have mentalist) because its a source of free/unlimited units, they have a 20% all stat malus, but they cost nothing so ... not all bad. and it let you enslave stuff that you normally cannot recruit.
Last oen is bastion (Westguard) but unsure what it gives. its in the middle of a mage tower and i aint trying to get there yet.
Then there is another one to the south named Uram Gor, which i had no time to check but in unveiled.
and 3 town to the north
Windholme
Grey Dusk Vale
Silver Drift Hollow (gives Miner's guild for tower, basically gives you ore for crafting)
considering the location i would say at least one of those town gives the dwarven barrack, and maybe another the elven one.
which also i had no time to check as of yet.
and those are all the town on the map, there are no other.
but i do hope they add the ability to chose your starting race and use citys and other places like camps and towns to pick up other unit types, i hate when my spire get's attacked around week 20 by a faction with army stacks of 7 and there is around 6 armies roaming the area one by one attacking me good exp but hard to replace any lost units so sometimes i do some save scumming if i lose a unit i can't continue wihtout aha
ahah i feel you, elf archer once fully upgraded and supported by the Warrior's Barrack (+1 range) make them actually bug fights.
you are sooo far out shooting enemies that they often don't even come into melee.
if you are lucky to get +2 range/vision, lot of damage and the aoe skill. you can just morph your elf damage to match enemies lower resistances and shred pretty much everything.
even better if you can get them a burn/bleed combo of runes.
bleed stacks.. so if you get every of your 4+ archer to get it you can melt 30+% hp of a creature pretty fast. from max range it's fun to see.
that being said, i'm not entirely sure anything beats a war troll (i like to go pummel them into slaves) or shaper golem (summon)
the troll is one of those rare creature that can get drak resist as upgrade, making them the best end tier creature to go fight undead, if you have the light domain they basically get immune dark. but yeah ... they are almost unkillable, my main army is just my hero (healer/warden) with 6 trolls pretty much. all level 15. i don't think i could lose a fight with them at this point.
i have another dude with 2 shaper golem ... those are insane, same one you meet sometimes in the shaper ruins, cost 10 mana tu sustain but the laser beam is just broken i melted half an undead army at the necromancer tower with just one use.
