Goblin start
Why do u always start with goblins?Isnt it weird?

it is just your base unit plus you always get a different minion. Depending on the start area, threre are a lot of other units within walking distance usually.

Got it.But u have 3 classes.Why not just give them a bit of variety or even give u random units depending on ur starting area.Shouldnt be that hard.First time i see u start with the same unit in every start position and with every class.Thx for quick answer.

We may do that going forward, but this way you have a reliable early game unit combo that always works well (like healing with shaman etc). Any other "faction" already requires some level of experience and can more easily lead to people using their units less effciently.

Having an option to pick your starting unit faction or something would be a nice "advanced player" option if you're worried about players not understanding how to use their units. I personally despise goblins and the first thing I'll need to do is get rid of them and replace them with anything else if possible, so it's a bit annoying having to do that every time you start a new game. The game already lets you pick a starting location so why not add a starting minion faction too?

Yeah, goblin start is reeeeeealy weird.
I even thought I misunderstood something when every letsplayer I watched had those stupid goblins.
SF has many races, there should be a start for every race. I doesn't make any sense for me to start with goblins if I, say, plan on using elves or dwarves later (assuming those are even in the game?) and want nothing to do with them filthy greenskins.

Dwarfes are, but according to a list I saw maybe one unit per high/dark elf which I kinda disappointing as they partly(?) even use the visuals of spellforce 3 and dlcs

Tip for dwarfes: start in the mountains and run east, there you will get most of their units even with a unique buff

it seems like there are only elven rangers (t2) and 2 elven heroes.

What kind of SF game is it without proper representation of elves? :Owlcat_sad:

I'd say about every new player will ask this question. It should make sense to explain this in the lore from the beginning at least.

Yeah this was my biggest worry. Being stuck with ugly troops for most of the game (possibly the second ugliest creature in any fantasy setting in this case) with no options to start with something different (like wolves for druids, spiders for something else, etc) . That's why modding was my last hope as the feedback people gave in FGII didn't seem to stick. It's perfectly respectable though, I'd do the same thing if I had a developing company.

Do not take this as antagonistic, but what's the big idea with keeping elves as DLC when you also need the game to sell to justify said DLC being made? Wouldn't it be more sensible to add them to the game so that the people who'd be otherwise disappointed might be enticed into buying the game instead? Personally was really disappointed learning there is only one elf unit in the game as of now, not a dealbreaker but for whatever reason I heavily associate Spellforce with fantasy races, not just humans and seeing as the biggest representation in game is just them, I kind of wanted to pick your brain on the reasoning behind this.

My guess is that the DLC with elves shall include another map and this is a prerequisite of some sort for releasing DLC (I dunno, some internal politics between devs and publisher maybe), so they can't just release elves only. I mean look at this:

Red square is roughly the current map of Conquest of Eo. To the south is where elves mainly reside, Finon Mir, and technically it's exactly the size of the current map.

I can understand that reasoning but at the same time it just makes me question why they have a single elf unit and 2 elf heroes if they never planned to release them unless the game sold enough for DLC to begin with. Why not just not include elves at all at that point ?
