So, basically, Lemmings ?
Title says it all if you're old enough to remember that game named "Lemmings".

Else, it's a game that was released in 1991 where you goal was to guide a population of dumb AF creatures who'd jump to their death if you weren't there to guide them, place bridges and whatnot, so that they can reach the exit.

Not quite there are noticeable differences to lemmings:

- In lemmings you choose a single lemming out of the population to apply a job to them, but in Humanity you place commands on the ground of an grid layered level
- in lemmings you have always a maximum amount of lemmings to beat the level, in humanity the population grows and never ends theoretically. (but you can also restrict the population)
- the goal in lemmings is to protect a certain amount of of your population to the end. In Humanity the goal can vary, but most of the time you don't need to protect your humans and only have to ensure that a certain amount per second passes the door
- in lemmings you control a cursor, in Humanity you are a character that can move in the level itself, as such there are also plattforming, skill-based and even real time strategy elements.

I think a better comparison would be "Chu Chu Rocket" but since Humanity has a lot of utility it probably counts as several of these games at once, depending on how you lay out the goal, the real time strategy elements btw feel like Pikmin.

"dumb AF creatures who'd jump to their death if you weren't there to guide them"

Sounds about correct to me. Look at us now....dumb AF creatures jumping towards nuclear or AI destruction. HAHAHA

I was like "oh yeah this game looks cool" then "Oh It's lemmins " lol
Lemmings is still a great game to play today. Old but 100% playable. The macanics are almost perfect.

this game is more like those laser and mirror games. the laser is just a flow of people here. and it works really well. comparing this to lemmings is like saying fortnite is like god of war because both are third person.

Or maybe it's like saying both games are similar in their core concept, which is "save as many as you can while fighting the environment" ?

Very much like Lemmings but without the cuteness.

Except the goal isn't "save as many as you can" the goal is "create a steady flow". I mean it can vary depending on the level but usually what sets it apart from lemmings is that the well-being of the people you guide isn't that important, you just need to guide a certan number of peoples per second into the goal, which creates an very different gameplay flow compared to lemmings.

Allright, THAT is a good explanation as to how the games differ. Thanks mate :)

It takes a bit from Lemmings, a bit from Chu Chu Rocket, and a bit from Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker.
The humans are basically a "river" and you just need to get them to flow into the exits. There's no pressure to keep everyone alive which allows for more casual and thoughtful play.

The caveat is the Gold people. Those can be lost but they don't move until you specifically activate them. One you figure out the concept of making loops the game opens up and allows for a few different ways to solve the puzzles.
