EE2 Desert Operations was officially released by G2 games on January 16, 2009.

This present information on Steam (not their fault) contradict this statement:

System requirements in the past, clearly indicate that Windows XP is the best compatible O.S.

Has any virtual Pilots been able to run it on either W-7/64 or W-10, using compatible mode for XP?

Were you able to use an Xbox type controller (Logitech F310) or joystick (Thrustmaster T-Flite Hotas X) with no separate pedals?

A little internet research will provide you with it's indispensable manual.
The Web will also reveal many technical issues (some solvable) with the game.

For now I can't buy it, until an available virtual helicopter Pilot can possibly answer my questions.

Thought I`d give this a go as I have EECH already. It seem to work - I have set compatability to Vista . In settings I have resolution at 1280x1024 , using T16000m hotas. Roll is set on t16ooo x axis; pitch on y axis; rudder to z rotation. Collective is set to hotas throttle z axis. Only done a bit of free flight but it seems to work.

When you mention "It seems to work", could you please elaborate?
Are you having crashes on desk tops?
Is your resolution set at 1280x1024 cutting the images in the borders?

I have only played for a few minutes just to see if it would work, ( I had to go out). res is set at 1280x1024 fullscreen. But , as I type this , I am having a problem with an update. Think my anti -virus is blocking something. I will try and find out what problem is.

Don`t know what`s going on. Game is trying to download an update but stops due to "disk write error". Cannot be arsed to continue. Refunding.

Hello GOG,
It is obvious here that compatibility mode from either W-7/64 or W-10, is most probably the reason for those technical hiccups.
Quite normal, when specs specify Windows XP.
Compatibility mode is not able to translate the architecture of the game.
Patience does have it's limits, more so around the end of time trial (for refund).

still have the entire collection of data for this game (release version 2000).
236 page long manual all the keyboard bindings and believe me, you use the whole keyboard playing this game
still have patches, updates, new maps etc.

I have EE Commanche v Hokum and Apache v Havoc. Got them from Good Old Games. All work with hotas. (And yes you still need keyboard for a lot of things). Shame about this version on Steam.

I have EE2 Comanche Hokum and it is working well on W10 , but with this version (desert Operations) are big problems i dont know why.

This isnt a real EE game, this is more of a weird paid mod. EECH made by razorworks (2000) is the last real EE game and is still being modded today, go to SimHQ.com for mod support.
