It's 2021. Long time people on PC went back to owning joypads/joysticks like we all did back with the 286.
Personally I never owned a console, or a PC without a mouse. I find gamepads frustrating due to having to use a single finger to input between 4 closely placed "face" buttons. I prefer to have that functionality spread across multiple fingers.
Other action games such as Bayonetta have been ported with robust keyboard controls and remapping options. I simply don't see why this option shouldn't be included with other games.
Devil May Cry V, Dark Souls (from II to Remastered; PtDE was a terrible port) and Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen support keyboards and 5-button mice perfectly, so there is no reason to expect anything less from El Shaddai ASCENSION OF THE METATRON.
Just try to understand that there are human beings behind a project like this, specially when its a very small, almost one-man team. They are making a great effort to bring this classic to PC. I understand that we love to criticise and laugh at everyhing, but I don’t know…if you don’t like the product, isn’t it reasonable just to ignore it?. It‘s basic empathy, I think.
Could you tell him "Thank you for bringing this game to PC". I and many others wanting this game to be played on PC for a long time. It would be cool if the files are not locked too. Maybe someday some modders will find a way to add new textures and what not to the game and make it even better.
Also it would be great if he could consult with Peter 'Durante' Thoman. He is best known for DSFix. https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/durante-opens-pc-port-company. There is no way of knowing what issues the port may have or if they are capable of fixing it so please send him this link. https://games.ph3.at/

Yep, of course I expressed myself (as a fan of the game back them) a lot of gratitude for bringing the game to PC. I'm contacting with him via info@elshaddai.jp (the address he gave me when I offered my help with the steam pages via twitter). Of course it is a great idea to have someone like Peter Thoman for consulting, but I don't feel really confident or close to him to suggest it (since we are only talking about language issues, it's not like I am an insider), but I think that if you write an email to this address suggesting it (I'd recommend you to try to write it in a clear Japanese, mine is so poor, but I used several translators -including multiple checkings in different languages- and he understood everything that I said so far), he seems very open and kind to everyone willing to lend him a hand.
Just spoke to the DEV team about implementing the keyboard support for the game.
Cheers!
I'm also following it for any announcements.
Thanks for the reply!
I might try making a config after it comes out.
Surprised to read this port was done by such a small crew. Thanks for bringing this game back! I never had the chance to play it back in the day but always loved the artstyle and aesthetics.
