'Shapeshift' does technically give you hag form as well, but since you can only get it if you are a 'Shapeshifter' , it is not available in practice without some cheating (and 'Reveal True Self' is better on the whole anyway).
I think you are correct that the only benefit of the shapeshift is the 'form' card that gets played each turn while 'Reveal True Self' is echoing.
Also in the hags description it states: "Hag counts as Shapeshifter and Wicked."
So if the shapeshift requirement doesn't trigger it would likeley be a bug.
Once it stops, you revert to your chosen appearance.
- As long as you are in your hag form, your namesake card is played automatically at the start of your turn.
- You can take advantage of certain perks in the Blodscribed Grimoire tree, that remove immunities as long as you are in your hag form.
You did pick a hag form (Night Hag, Forest Hag or Beldame) yes?
Once you do, and start the game, cards like Reveal True Self & Corrupted Cairn read:
"Shapeshift to Night Hag" or "Shapeshift to Beldame" etc.
Regardless form, you always count as Shapeshifter, so all natural weapon cards that give shapeshifter extra effects, will work for you whether you are shapeshifted or not.
