Best gifts for each character?
Anyone had any luck in figuring out which gifts are preferred by each character?
I know the handkerchief was somewhat liked by Sera (but that may have been a universal item), and the fruit wine isn't too well liked by Marchelle

I'll do my best to keep this updated. From a small bit of experimentation, gifts that are liked will display a double up arrow on the rapport meter when given, no gifts so far seem to give a down arrow (decreased amount) despite reactions like "thanks...i guess?" or what's this" meaning that gifts seem to fall into only 2 categories OK and Liked. So far for what characters like what gifts:

Aged Grimoire - Marchelle
Beer - Gilbert, Francisco, Robin, Sera
Gilded Goblet - Leon, Linard
Leather Handicraft - Linard, Leon
Ledger - Marchelle
Lime Cordial - Francisco, Gilbert, Robin, Sera
Soldier's Badge - Karin, Andrea, Linard, Francisco
Training Spear - Karin, Andrea, Linard, Francisco
World Map - Marchelle, Robere

Special thanks to: DiceWrangler, SadFun

I've turned this list into a guide so people can more easily find it

Based on her backstory, I gave Marchelle the ledger and she reacted very favorably.

During camp i have both Leather Handicraft and Lime Cordial. Been testing on all characters to see different reactions. They have default rejection dialogues and some of em (Like Robere) just say "Thanks", even if they don't like said gift (same reaction for both gifts). May have missed something but here's what i got.

Leather Handicraft - Linard
Lime Cordial - Francisco

This game really need a gift/rapport guide. And most importantly a recruitment guide, because it seems like those are missables. Like what gifts and how many gifts or even how long will someone stay in your camp everything is so unpredictable and is just a pain in the ass honestly.

As well as the location of all collectable notes as well.

This is one of the reasons for creating this post, hopefully we can gather as much information here that can then be turned into a guide for who likes what gifts.

For how long people stay from what I gathered from the in game tutorials people come and go from your camp until you convince them to join you this can be done in one visit for some but others may need multiple?

The tutorial says they only stay for 1 or few chapters iirc, in other words they are missable because if you don't recruit them within the window they are gone.

Hey for these types of Q&A, have created Tips and Tactics, and moved the topic.

yes i missed the chance to recruit some people but then again, very limited the amount of gifts you get , it is impossible to recruit them all it seems. so far i managed to recruit the archer girl, karin

Do you need to gift her to recruit? Or can you raise her rapport for free the next chapter if she is even around?

The annoying thing about this game is that gifts and gold are limited, so without guides it's expected to miss a lot and just be inefficient. So far from what I see the things outside combat is even more annoying than fe 3 houses imo, feels like so many things are missable.

after i went back they were no longer available for recruit.

you basically need to focus on one character at the time , hopefully with a guide , soon we know which gifts are best for who.

Recruiting seems to be very important too. In the last battle I fought, for example, I had room for 1 extra character; I could only fill 9 of the 10 slots available for deployment.

Do you know where you obtained the ledger?

I either found it in camp (sparkling object) or it was an early quest reward. It was not purchased and I had it from prior to when a "gift" merchant arrived anyway.
