Chapter 18: Character sacrifice for diversion?
Hello,

is it possible to get your character out of the diversion after its starts? I tried it several times but it seems impossible to get him out.

Almost not and known thing, as many suggest just not doing diversion and instead just going around and choke pointing.

Its possible, please change the char who do the bait job as ASSASSIN as you can move 6 tiles, also please beware and ready to start using potions to increase movement or def. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING AFTER CHAPTER 16. I SPENT DAYS TO FIND THIS OUT.

I already tried the haste potion but it didn´t work. I will it try it with the DEF+. Unfortunately i don´t have a assassin yet.

You may want to get Sacred Calling on your healer and teleport your bait-assassin over the wall at some point (main army goes west->east inside the castle, assassin runs east->west outside, at some point healer runs south for a bit and grabs assassin with Sacred Calling).
I used a dark caster with Nightveil, Snuck them thru and casted nightveil on the gate choke then i rushed my mounted units to the backside and pulled what was stuck inside towards me and ripped thru them without pulling any from further in. Used my 2nd veil to catch any that snuck out from approaching my caster this held long enough for the team to get to them.

Another option is alert them right away then use either gate you chose to enter thru as a choke point should work really well with this method and no risk to any single unit.

Dunno if it helps, but I had Robere do the job and moved him into a corner down right where he could only get attacked by two units. He's tanky enough to survive if given potions.

Medium Defense Potion/Strength Potion and Recovery Potion + Sharpshooter + Hero's Anklet (Quick Attack) worked for me on Hard. Immediately using the strength potion once they get into the zone sets up Quick Attack from the accessory to kill 2 enemies for the first 2 turns after (getting rid of mages). Then Defense potion to tank some remaining archers after most miners are gone can stall for a sacred call from any rank 10 light magic user if they go to south gate. It's very specific but I managed to clear the area and save some miners.

Alternatively, I've heard good things about sending in a Dark Mage for Nightveil to stall the Southgate enemies from killing miners.

Use a character with high movement like Andrea and send your main force back to the front gate. It takes a lot of time and is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying, but it is how I managed to do it.
