*SPOILER ALERT* Liu Bang and Xiang Yu
Just finished the game and the story reminds me of the story of Liu Bang and Xiang Yu during the Chu-Han Contention period. Does anybody who is familiar with the story thinks so?

- Eden and Balastar were in the same side fighting to topple an empire. Just like Liu Bang and Xiang Yu toppling the Qin Empire.

- Eden and Balastar conquered a big city. Eden decided to treat the people kindly while Balastar butchered and pillaged the city. Just like Liu Bang treated the people of Xianyang well while Xiang Yu just massacred and pillaged the city.

- Balastar killed the king and declared himself king. Xiang Yu killed Emperor Yi, the nominal sovereign of the Eighteen Kingdom and declared himself the leader.

- Balastar got the lion share of the Empire while Eden had to go to exile in Liviyu, a mountainous land with rough terrain. Just like Xiang Yu was the de facto leader of the Eighteen Kingdoms post Qin Dynasty while Liu Bang was assigned to Sichuan, a mountainous land with rough terrain.

- Eden burned the gallery road that connected Liviyu from the rest of the land. Liu Bang did the same with the gallery road connecting the mainland and Sichuan.

- Eden led a coalition of leaders who are dissatisfied with Balastar, took Balastar's capital, got caught off guard by the latter with smaller force, suffered heavy casualties and lost the support of other leaders. Just like Liu Bang when he led 560,000 coalition army, took Chu's capital of Pengcheng but Xiang Yu caught Liu Bang offguard with 30,000 soldiers, caused heavy casualties and Liu Bang lost the support of other leaders.

- Klara, Eden's High Commander chased off the leaders who abandoned Eden and won brilliant victory after victory to conquer the lands to the north. Just like Han Xin, Liu Bang's general-in-chief who led a force through the north and defeated several kings with brilliant and unorthodox strategies.

- Klara refused to send Eden reinforcement when the latter asked while under Balastar's pressure. Just like Han Xin refused Liu Bang the request for reinforcement while Liu Bang was under Xiang Yu's attack.

- Eden signed a peace treaty between him and Balastar to let Balastar return to his homeland. Just like Liu Bang and Xiang Yu signed a peace treaty to let Xiang Yu back to Chu.

- Eden renounced the treaty and attack Balastar from behind. Klara and Emile attacked Balastar's flanks. Just Like the Battle of Gaixia where Liu Bang defeated Xiang Yu by attacking Xiang Yu's both flanks.

- Balastar escaped and holed up in his camp, only for Eden to play the song of the former's soldier's homeland to make them homesick and desert Balastar. Just like how in the aftermath of the Battle of Gaixia, Xiang Yu holed up in his camp and Liu Bang told his soldiers to sing to song of Chu, Xiang Yu's homeland which resulted in mass desertion, leaving Xiang Yu with only 800 cavalry.

- Balastar fled at night towards to river to escape by boat. Just like Xiang Yu and his 800 cavalry escaped at night towards Wu river to escape by boat.

- Balastar died as the last man standing killing off many of his pursuers before he died near the river. Just like how Xiang Yu was the last man standing, killing off hundreds of his pursuer and died near the river.

I'm not sure if it's just coincidence or not but me being a history buff, this tickles my balls in a certain way >_<

I just finished the game yesterday and completely agree with you. The story is so out-of-Sima Qian’s "Shiji" that it is hard to miss.
Especially similarities between some of games and historical characters are striking even aside from the ones you mentioned.
For example:

Emperor Ludvictus: Qin’s First Emperor, prophecy obsessed paranoid infamous for persecuting scholars and burning books.
Francisco: Fan Kuai, tough guy and something of a bodyguard to Liu.
Robin: Ji Xin, who died as a decoy for Liu.
Marchelle: Xiao He, who held capital and sustained logistics.
Johanna: Chen Ping, mastermind of underhanded plotting.
Albrecht: Zhang Liang, advisor with esoteric background.
Hector: Ying Bu, former criminal and dirty job executor for Xiang.
Emille: Peng Yue, master guerilla general and ultimate harasser.

I can go on and on.
Although the story became predictable once I noticed it, I did enjoy the game.

Now that you mentioned them... YEAH you're right! Hahaha! It's nice to finally see someone who knows something about Chinese history.
I was thinking Oath of the Peach Garden with those three referring to each other as brothers at the start.
