The characters are interesting too, although less deep than bigger RPGs like BG3 or Pathfinder. Still they all have their stories, reasons, behaviors, ...
The setting is interesting too, probably very similar to Lost Eidolons.
Weapon variety is : spears / sword / axe + bow as secondary weapons (opposite for range-based class).
Class variety is good too. Needs a fair bit of management if you want some mix & match or some of the higher ones. For example Battlemage requires both a magic school (I think elementary) and Axe mastery.
The game loop is : you spend time in the camp talking to the characters, doing some quests, etc ... From a certain chapter secondary battles become available.
Then you "exit the camp" and the story proceeds up to a story battle, then to next chapter.
The camp is where you will spend most of the time if you read everything (books, conversations, ...). Roughly 1 hour.
You can save as you want in the camp. There is a limit of 30 saves.
Battles take around 15 to 30 minutes. You can't save during a battle, but you can quit the game, the battle status is saved so you can resume it where you left it.
Beside that there is a "cancel" button and you can revert the turns up to any action.
The number of times you can use this "cancel" option is limited but there are more than what you need.
In summary Lost Eidolons is a linear campaign with a loop : camp -> exit to story battle -> next chapter.
The story is told with cinematics before and after the story battles + through conversations in the camp.
Also there is a bond system. You can increase relationship with the characters. The reward are hidden and in battle it gives a slight bonus if you are close to your best friends. But nothing overpowered.
But it seems Veil Of The Witch has no Battle Scene for each encounter like Fire Emblem and LE do.
For me, those animations are fun to watch
Oh, that sounds good. I'm familiar with that from Fire Emblem. Veil of the Witch has a bond system as well that starts very lackluster (a few stat boosts) and then eventually a passive bonus to activate an ability unique to the character. I.e. the healer has a chance to automatically heal their friend for any damage taken.
Yes, Veil of the Witch is very minimal on the story. It is pretty front loaded where the majority of the scenes are in the beginning of the game and the initial meetings for boss encounters. There are dialog scenes throughout the game but they're very short of like person A talks, person B, person A responds, the end. It has some story but still early access so unfinished.
There are also side stories with side characters and new people you can recruit - but it's again pretty front loaded and once you recruit them any story you get is from optional dialog you start from the base camp.
I kinda like the FE scenes too though, I think I'd probably enjoy the original Lost Eidolons :) Thanks all.
