One can only hope.
Yep, you are correct with the understanding of when the heat issue arrises.
This issue has stopped me from playing the game any further as I don't want to risk my gpu any more when in all reality I have so many other unfinished games that hardly wake my gpu up from a nice snooze.
Umm, i was suggesting that you should put the limit on your frames. Making it unlimited and telling that gpu usage is too high does really make sense to me. I know that this game isn't Cyberpunk 2077 but just telling you that using the custom game engine makes so much difference from using the unity engine. Sorry that I couldn't help you more than this.
Oh, sorry, maybe my english isn't good so maybe give you wrong feeling, I am really thankful you try to help and give suggestion, what I try to say was I think the problem of this game isn't about setting, because in normal case, 3080 running this type of game in 60 frame even with MAX setting should be still doing fine, and it shouldn't be players try to lower their setting to solve this problem, not because your pc is not powerful enough to run, but because too powerful to run??
what happen in this game by what I heard is, your GPU run this game like your are running super AAA game with all MAX setting, this tell people something wrong with it, and we are not sure this "Something wrong" will or will not damage GPU.
sorry, english isn't my first language so maybe give you a wrong feeling
Thank you for reporting the high GPU utilization. Optimization is something that our team has been working on diligently, and, based on reports in this thread, we are continuing to look into it.
While we do so, it would be greatly appreciated if we can get additional information and files, especially since gameplay environment can vastly differ whether on our testing machines or for each player. Please feel free to join our Discord server ( https://discord.gg/sNAqA9eHnK ) and reach out to ODS staff so that we can look into each case in more detail :)
If you wouldn't mind sharing the following, it would help us look further into the matter:
- dxdiag
>>> windows key + r, type: dxdiag and enter, save all
- game's version information (shown on the bottom left of the title screen)
>>> we've made improvements to dialogue cutscenes in GM1.04, so we'd need to know if there are other elements than what we've addressed
- in-game graphics settings
>>> screenshot of the settings would help for both general and detailed settings
- save files
>>> zip (compress) entire folder: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Ocean Drive Studio\Lost Eidolons\Saves\Steam
- the situation you are encountering issues with
>>> Whether it's for a specific scene/location/action, or something like a specific dialogue cutscene in a certain chapter, a specific camp (or area), a specific in-battle dialogue event, etc.
- hardware utilization information
>>> GPU utilization %, GPU temp (please also clarify whether it's the GPU or GPU hot spot temp), if there are other signs of heat build-up (like the case temp, or if the temperature drops when you open the case), etc.
If you could send them to either contact@oceandrive.studio via e-mail or ODS Jungsoo or ODS GeeK via Discord ( https://discord.gg/sNAqA9eHnK ), that would help us look into the matter. Thank you!
Thanks for the second reply in this thread, even I didn't buy this game yet but you guys still keep try to answer and help, and also show that you guys really looking into the problem and really try to make the game better but not just leave it after launched, I think that's some good feeling for customer, and so I think I will buy this game now, thanks for your reply and help.
"Acceptable" is the operative word here.
Desirable it is not.
The more higher the temperature the gpu runs at the earlier it will need replacement.
And who exactly states that the "acceptable" temperature is 85 degrees?
Surprise, surprise........... wait for it.........the manufacturer.
.......who will happily sell you a brand new gpu when your current one fails in a couple of years earlier than it should have, simply because you ran it at the "acceptable" temperature.
But I digress.
