Nothing forces you to kill the last guy, specially when you're one step away from the chest.
Wrong, if you play this game, you know that you can't prevent your guys to defend to an attack, thus when your guys are engaged they will hit the pnj back as defense and can kill it and end the game if it was the last one.
There is no sense for me to prevent players to loot chest when the battle is done sorry, this is a poor idea, mainly when you can't prevent your troops to defend themselves and thus give them the abilty to kill on counterattack.
If you already hit the last enemy so low that they die of counter attack or if you don't move them out of range, it is a little bit your fault that you couldn't get the chest. Jeez. It's not "a poor idea", it's simply a mechanic you obviously don't understand. It's a tactical decision, as explained by the devs, a reward for those that want to take risks. It would make no sense at all to include chests if you can loot them after the battle anyway because then you can just add that loot to the one you automatically get when winning a battle. The chests are a little extra that those deserve to take that want to take the risk.
This is quite a dated concept...like late 90s early 2000s dated. Its also not very popular with players.
it is very popular with me, the chests are completely meaninless to have on the map if you just get them regardless at the end
You work hard for what you get, plan ahead to get all chests within the map and within turn limits. At least i don't see any locked chests that u need to find the key to open them, or buy some with merchants. Make chooses between more exp or less exp with chest with another turn you get to make the call. i do think economy is fairly balanced so far
Not really dated, i've played other games that have this same build like Dio Chronicles, makes it more of a decision based game do you really want extra loot or to finish your encounter without it. Even Valkyria had this as well and people love that game.
They gave an option in the settings where chests could be automatically collected upon defeating all enemies.
It was then the players choice if they wanted it or not.
Amazing.
