Unless you have perma death turned on, losing a character has no impact.

Well they label permadeath off as casual...on the selections.SO the game itself is calling you a wimp for turning it off. That is why I left it on.

It gets worse in missions when you have Balastar as an ally. He is a very brave dude who likes to rush into danger and you have to save his ass because losing him=game over. Chapter 9 was pretty bad due to that.

Yeah, I don't like that they call "no permadeath" the casual mode. It should just be normal mode. I wish they wouldn't have called it casual mode. It's just a bit insulting.

But, it is what it is.

I'm not sure what to tell you then besides good luck!

ya good luck the early part is easy its later on when it gets hard af to not lose someone.

Just pay attention to max range enemies can reach as they will always go for an attack when available even against their own well being (it throws even a string connecting pointing out if you move here these people are very highly likely to attack you).

Wait until Balastar wants to hold the exit but there is poison by the exit and his healer won't heal him and won't move out of the cloud, so you have to put your healer on location to keep him on life support.

Well it’s not a complete joke difficulty wise but with the undo feature it’s really easy to avoid deaths. I play on hard/maniac/turn limit and had to restart a chapter completely only once (at ch 19 now). Even with unexpected events and reinforcements etc the undo feature is usually more than sufficient. That makes it vastly less hardcore than many other srpgs (FE, etc) where losing a unit on permadeath means restarting the chapter.
As usual though, range is king and squishier melee units are near useless. Running just the 3 tanks and Dahlia as melee while having 3 rangers. And even tanks and her are using bow half the time.
Stanard SRPG tactics, pull with tank into prepared firing line, cc/block any survivors, rinse and repeat.

Highly recommend you forget about that stuff man. I did the same thing for a while and realized made me enjoy game alot less. Got tired of game battles being like 2 or 3 times longer. It always sucked starting of on normal and struggling from not lack of skill but knowledge. Since just learning the ropes the battles can feel more rushed and intense. Causing more stress and anger. Since not leaving much room for mistakes or learn and adjust.
My father who is no where near my level of gaming always put games on normal. Then always calls me up to beat something for him in a game I never even played. Which had to do so many times until finally explained to him. To stop ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ himself and just put games on easy. Finally after yrs he finally manned up and did it. Putting aside his ego and not caring what other people think. Now he enjoys them alot more and admits there still challenging. Which he didn't know he just figured any game on easy would automatically be cake walk. Most games even on easy still need some effort put in along with basic skill.
I already have proved to myself in the past that I can be pretty good at games . So I don't care anymore, I'm getting older and at times I can work alot. So would really just rather relax stress free and enjoy games.
Periodically I do like switching it up and pushing myself a bit more. Then I just play myself a Souls game. Which never has any setting for difficulty just hardcore from start to finish.

I assume they call it casual cause it was called casual in fire emblem if you turned off permadeath in the later games (Since permadeath is the norm for it)

But casual is assumed to be a negative connotation for gamers. They would be better served calling it normal and hard.

I dunno about all that. If someone takes offense to the word casual in the gaming sense they need to grow up
FroBodine Nov 4, 2022 @ 1:36pm
I'm not offended by it, or any word. It's just not used correctly. Playing this game without perma-death does not make this a casual game by any means.

It is used correctly in the context of this game. It *is* a casual approach to this aspect of the game. Difficulty settings are completely separate and use the monikers you are used to.
