Only really annoying thing is that the control mapping is a bit *too* much like on the 3ds and (I'm assuming) the switch. The controls for when you pick up an item come to mind. mapping "put away" to the Rune keys certainly wouldn't have been my first choice for keyboard controls.
1-freesync breaks the game.. super slowmo
2-framerates above 60 break the game..super fast
3-v sync "fixes" these issues..but still runs the game at 63 fps for me, slightly fast
4-no way to exit game without alt f4 or pointlessly opening journal and exiting to title, then to desktop
5-fullscreen kept reverting to windows for me.. borderless window opens with task bar on top of screen.. clunky/weird
6-mouse/keyboard controls are junk
honestly i prefer to just have this one on switch. simpler and just works.. and steam has no real benefits + new annoyances/issues .
You can mod it, do backups and other things you just simply can't on a console. Absolutely superior to the other versions. Yeah, there's a bit of windows jank to it, but it works and works well.
1 blackscreen on startup (likely hardware issue)
2 sound glitching into repeating noises (somewhat rare, restart to fix)
3 game crashing on return to title (maybe tied to sound bug)
4 shop voiceovers missing
5 a certain dev debug shortcut you can abuse still in the game
6 upscaled graphics look off putting at first, but not that bad as you play
other than those it seems pretty solid
And what shortcut would that be?
Sign by Leon Karnak lets you access a postgame dungeon.
I saw that debug, but... do you think it would mess up ones save file though? That's why I haven't touched it, too afraid heh.
1. Even if you play with controller, you need to change to KB/M to name your character. ppl then thought they cannot change the name.
2. No ultrawide screen support.
3. higher resolution does not improve graphic much, but it is just my opinion not fact.
Other than that, it is similar to RF4 Special I played on Switch. Compare to Switch, Steam ver is not locked to 30fps and lower resolution and it comes with all DLCs and mostly cheaper, so I would say if you can afford either one and don't care about playing outside, steam is better.
Note: above are from observing others. I can wait for more discount since I already own Switch copy.
Also no AUDIO settings except On/Off ( you cannot lower individual pieces ).
Game doesn't like ALT-Tabing ( so if you want to look up a guide or a video it may take it sweet time and occasionally crash ).
Controls are bad as the other guy mentioned ( and they didn't even bother doing any quality of life upgrades ). Constant inventory management just to swap tools or get healing items.
Graphics have been up-scaled and overall look good but item icons and some backgrounds look very blurry/low resolution. Not an issue for most people but thought I would give you a warning.
Exiting the game "normally" requires going to the "SAVE BOOK" then selecting either quit or leave to main menu... Best option however is just save the game and then Alt+F4.
Some people reported crashing, slow downs and in my case I had weird screen flickering glitch that went away after restart. It might run with no issues on your machine but it might not.
I bought it because of nostalgia and to support the porting team ( want to see more RF games being ported... and that's one way to let them know )
