Thoughts on PURGE? (SPOILERS)
Hi everyone!

I just finished Purge and thoroughly enjoyed it. I felt like it was a nice way to end the story and it was good to see a few old friends on the way. What does everyone else think?

I was blown away by the reveal of what was causing the flux event. I'd had a soft spot for Castor, so his character development was bittersweet for me but ultimately made sense for the story. I was surprised by how happy I was to see Peake and Eshe have a friend breakup. They just didn't seem well-suited at all. I chose to stay, release the Gardener, manage the bar, and turn down Castor. The ending felt pretty optimistic all things considered (even given that the Sleeper will die in a decade). What did other people choose?

I had the exact same ending and it felt consistent with the choice I made all along the game. Loved the Castor twist, it was logical yet still surprising.
An excellent conclusion, bittersweet as I like them.
I wasn't a fan of the first two parts of the DLC - I felt like the base game was a lot stronger - but PURGE was great in my book.

I also went down the same path re: staying, Peake, Castor, & the bar. There were moments where I had to pause and really consider leaving but I think staying on the Eye spoke to the Sleeper's journey and who they became over time. I almost didn't play this third DLC installment because of the way the second entry went but I am entirely glad I did. What a high note to end on.

It was a lovely note to end on. Similar to most people, I also decided to stay with Peake and the bar. I did re-load after finishing just to see how the story would've played out if I had left, but that was just because I was curious.

I thoroughly enjoyed the game, and I think this DLC has been wonderful (and free). I think the second installment wasn't the strongest, but any other developer would've waited till it was all complete and then released it for $10.

The navigator’s “cameo” appearance was a lovely touch. It really did feel like seeing an old friend one last time.

About the same Honestly. Rolled my eyes abit at the whole Sleeper eventually dying when I EASILY had more than enough Stabilizers to last me longer than just a decade or so with a method of making more if needed.

Did it ever say anywhere that the sleeper died after a decade? I don't remember seeing that in the "stay with Peake" ending scroll, but its possible i just skimmed over it.

All good given the limited scope of the game, but the only thing I legitimately didn't get is why would Sleeper ever die given that the Gardener has already made an endless supply of Stabliziers possible (and within such a relatively short term, comparatively).

So biologically the Sleeper is all set, mechanically - just as well, given the ability to self-repair and plentiful of skilled engineers on the Eye.

Seems like the mortality of the Sleeper in this case is just a way to underscore the fact that once you've grown accustomed with the Eye, MC would just go on living, having achieved their ultimate goal of securing a safe place to live.

The stabilizers only do just that, stabilize. They don't repair any damage or anything. eventually your liver is going to fail, your heart will fail, literaly your body is still falling apart day by day. With stabilizers tho your falling apart at the same rate as a regular person. Some of the mechanical parts of the sleeper can be replaced indefinitely, but unless the sleeper starts getting constant organ transplants you run into a hard wall of cell division.

If you have an auto immune disease and you take suppressants for it, those suppressants aren't likely to repair the DNA damage that occurs with cell division ya?

even in the craziest scenario where you have infinite replacement everything in both mechanical and biological departments, one does not simply replace a brain. you'd have to sleeper the sleeper pretty much, and I doubt the corpo's would allow that to happen so freely.

I loved this chapter. It felt like an amazing way to send off the story. I'm glad there weren't any associated achievements, it means I can pick an ending and my choices feel real. The ending I got was _my_ ending. I chose to stay on the station with Peake, running Bliss' Bay and the bar. I won't spoil the interaction between sleeper and a certain character from lowend but I will say being able to tell them off was very satisfying.

One thing,

As you turn back to the bay Peake pushes past too. "Sorry Sleeper, just a second." Peake rushes to catch up with Eshe. "Put that down. Please, Eshe." But she doesn't respond to his urging

Just drawing attenton to a typo where a dev might see it and patch it, Peake is nonbinary, the game uses they/them everywhere but this place in particular making it pop out.

Do you mean our nosey game partner?
Honestly - it was one of the parts of the game I've really disagreed with the Sleeper's pacifism. The guy's complicit in horrible crimes in the past and is an active agent of the corporation seeking the total destruction of the Eye, all of it's inhabitants and all of the settlers on the starsystem's planets. I'm not really pro-murder, but if you have to do it - that's the best candidate. It's not even about revenge or justice - he's an actual present danger looking to end you and everyone you know.
If you don't have the guts to actually end him - at least report him to Feng, because he's way worse than anything Hardin was.

I went into the third chapter without any expectations, but I was still disappointed that at the end of it all, it just was yet another corporation seeking to expand their territory. To be fair though, the way they pulled it off was pretty well done, and I also don't exactly have a better plot twist in mind, so I don't mind it that much.

What I do mind is that out of three DLCs, there was only one where we got to play in the "Cyberspace". My favorite parts of the main story are when you're exploring some decade old data nodes that have been abandoned and corrupted. I can't describe what it is, but the concept of technology decaying to the point where it develops a "life" of its own really resonates with me. Which is why I was disappointed that the DLCs had so little of that.

To end on a high note, seeing the old characters again was great. I was always puzzled by the fact that the main game essentially has two different main story arcs, which have basically nothing to do with each other and don't share any characters. Bringing those characters back is a nice way to tie it all up in the end.

i think it's release was NOT IDEAL, jumping into part 3 from a few months away from part 2 was rough but i ultimately LOVED it. very fun.

I've waited for all 3 DLCs to be released before starting my second playthrough just for this reason.
