none of that applies to me, and all of my save games are magically gone... it looks like there was an update today, and apparently there have been updates in the past that rendered old save games unusable in the latest version, so I'm guessing that is what happened here.... which is not good, I just lost several hours of gameplay put into my most recent save
As @Xavierrtpv said, I think it might have to do with the update that was pushed today.
That's as far as I have gotten, but it was good to know my files are not gone. Hopefully someone can assist further.
Note: if you can't find the AppData parent folder then you likely need to show your hidden folders.
v28.10 Update Notes
A huge amount of gratitude to all of the Sinners who’ve joined our community! To say that we’ve been blown away by the amount of support is an understatement.
We’ve prepared a modest update from feedback we’ve gotten from the community, bug reports and more. Look for a larger update in the coming month or so.
Note: You will need to re-subscribe to all mods for this update. We apologize for the hassle; this will be a one-time thing.
This update will break save games and replays! You can still play them by using the previous version (see below).
Previous Version Instructions
If you wish to finish up your game on the previous version, do the following:
Select ‘Sins of a Solar Empire II’ in your Steam Library.
Click the gear icon in the upper right.
Select Properties → Betas
Select 'previous_edition' from the Beta Participation dropdown.
Steam will update you to the latest files.
To switch to latest repeat step 4 and select ‘None’
Playing last night, after updating to 28.16 with a friend, no problems. Saved it, went to bed.
Today, I cannot see any of my save files, I cannot join him when he goes to host because "the simulation framework does not match".
We have the same mod (tried disabling it, large fleet sizes), same version (28.16), I've tried bouncing back to previous versions (saves show up, but surprise surprise, incompatible game version, which is correct), verifying, Only system change was a driver update. PC's been off entire day until booted it up just now, saw no game updates happen in Steam. This is bizarre lol The game just won't quit it on thinking I don't have the same game version...when we do...and did 24 hrs ago playing just fine.
So we've given up on that game, just try starting a new one, game works fine otherwise right. But here's something for the X-file.
I got home before buddy, about half an hour, in that time I updated my AMD drivers.
Buddy, did not before booting up the game, but after hearing me mention that were new drivers, while I last ditch tried a reinstall, he updated. Now his saves are gone from last night too, why? how? Couldn't tell ya.
