Sins of a Solar Empire II

Sins of a Solar Empire II

So... the AI cheats HARD, right?
When it comes to vision of where your ships are, anyway. Because theoretically there's no way for the enemy to know where my ships are (in this case, an Advent enemy, and they did *not* have dominant culture in either the system I was jumping from or to, or even further out-- early game scenario.) but the moment those ships *would* land a devastating flank on the enemy because they are out of position they suddenly turn tail and flee as soon as my ships enter the phase lane. It is... very blatantly obvious. Or am I missing something here?

Nope, that's pretty much it. It's been this way since Sins 1 so it's not surprising it's the same in two.

There is research to see ships in phase space, so the AI will react when it sees them jump, because it can see that.

Advent though get a cheap ability to see anywhere.

Vasari also get the ability in late game to see any ship during a phase jump so at that point it knows where everything is anyways.

Yes, exactly what other commenters have said. You absolutely can out maneuver the AI, even on the highest difficulty. You just need to keep in mind all the various ways you can be spotted.

The thing is, this is early enough that they wouldn't have had those higher tier techs-- only playing against hard AI while I get a feel for things. But it wasn't using its scrying ability and had no culture to detect with.

It's all T1 and T2 stuff.

Oh, also Advent scout ships leave vision after they died. Yea there is just so many ways Advent can see you just assume they see it all.

It's even better when you end up playing whack-a-mole when you jump and the AI jumps towards the planet you just left from and you have to turn around and chase them back and forth a few times until they eventually run away.
