Fighter/Bomber Spam
Impacts FPS when zoomed into battles. Spamming Anti-Fighter/Bomber ships does not even put a dent into countering it. This was an issue in rebellion and it saddens me that has carried over to 2.

If the answer to such spam, is to spam it as well in an attempt to counter it - it just makes an existing problem worse and impacts game performance even more.

I was playing earlier with a friend, had a ton of fighters n bombers just chasing me, steered my ship into the anti air spam of my friend, ships were VERY QUICKLY deleted.

I'm not sure I can really relate, having a lot of point defense will quickly diminish enemy strikecraft.

Outside your own system/gravity well defense structures (aside from starbases in non-owned territory) would not exist. Thus any combat (and there is a lot of it) outside of your own territory would require either a spam counter or end-game weapons like the nova cannon if I'm remembering correctly

Well... yeah that's how the game works.
I don't know why spamming counter ships that deal with fighters isn't an option, though.
In my experience, they work really well, and are required to counter missile spam too.

Fighting spam with more spam and it degrading performance in battles in a game where the cpu is no longer a bottleneck means GPUs will be taxed more does not help at all.

Fleet composition sure, big fleets sure, double supply cap sure | fighter/bomber spam out the wazoo and the only counter is additional fighter/bomber spam just makes it worse.

I like watching battles as I imagine most players do. I am on nice hardware, and I can only imagine how it is for players on lesser hardware. Steam hardware survey lists the most common GPU as being a GTX 3060.

A possible solution to the performance impact would be to maybe make the carriers/ships/starbases have less fighter/bomber squadrons but make them stronger or something?

Build anti-strikecraft counters, they're there for a reason and they're effective at the role.

Disagree here.. I have just played Vasari that dont have fighters of their own and having 30 flak corvetest (forgot exact name) in fleet I have shred overwhelming amounts of Advent aircrafts pretty fast during most fights.

I had a ratio of 3-4x flak frigates than they had carrier ships in an attempt to counter fighter/bomber spam. Little to no impact, unless I'm missing something - aren't flak frigates supposed to be anti-fighter?

I must be missing or failing to understand something here because that is not what I experienced - I was playing TEC against Advent

They shot down bombers, fighters and missiles alike. I had Advent armies with 300-400 aircrafts agaionst me and as said, I countered and kille dhtem way faster than they coudl replenish (eg. when I checked enemy ahngars they ahd 0/X at time I finally reached them with fleet to destroy)

Gardas do shred through Advent fighters. Exact reasons for why it did not work for you, would require to see the game. But a reason could be that you were outclassed in technology so much, that even a counter was no longer a real counter. Also having 3-4x flak amount means you had LESS fleet. For each advent carrier, you could have had 5 flak frigates. That is also a factor.

Also, when it comes to countering strikecraft as TEC, I strongly recommend getting the flak burst module on a capital ship
