Nope, it already exists at launch.

No, I get you. But I think the OP and others like myself who have used Galaxy Forge in Sins 1 were hoping for a similar variant of that program for this game. I am aware of Solar Forge, but not everyone is quite adept to the workings of GitHub. Galaxy Forge was a more user friendly map editor.

You don't have to be adept at it at all.
Read the text on the Gitpage, they gave very easy and straightforward steps to build the repository without having to have any understanding of building a project.

It's really simple tbh and while the solar forge could use more work it already is a perfectly capable map creator/editor in the spirit of galaxy forge.

Despite using Solar Forge, I consider myself part of what the devs called "broad public". as I still prefer Galaxy Forge. To each his own I suppose.

The version on Github wasn't meant for broad public use yet so a lot of features are either undocumented or require editing the text files. It's also not easy to get the maps up and running. We will be fixing all these issues incrementally over time.

Yeah it needs to be an in game feature like it was before. Why it's not at release is a bit strange.
