Music is underwhelming
So far I am quite enjoying the game. It runs smoothly and is plenty fun. My biggest complaint is that the music is entirely forgettable. The music in Sins 1 was one of the best parts for me. There were few tracks that didn't have something memorable about them, and quite a few that I would find myself humming along with even days later. I have actually listened to the soundtrack as just music to listen to.

I can't remember a single bit of music from Sins 2 after hours of play. It is all entirely background, without even really setting a tone.

For a direct comparison lets contrast the Sins 1 track Vasari 1 with the Sins 2 track Vasari Ambient 1. Both aren't intended to be anything special, and aren't even really named. They are of similar length, and I'm pretty sure are intended to play at similar times. They are also both the first of the set, so I'm not picking specific ones to make my point.

The first isn't anything amazing, but it does have character to it. There is a flow, almost a story to it, and the Vasari themes are very prevalent.

The second is just the same small section of notes played over and over again with a few minor variations. About as dull as background music can get. It has no character to it, and no real themes either as far as I can tell.

Mostly I'm just kinda disappointed.

I think they did hire the same artist/composer for both games.

What I stayed more in my memory were the chorus from Advent in Sins 2, while I can't really recall much Advent music from Sins 1.

It's even annoying to me, to be honest and very much taking me out of the immersion to a degree that i'm actively googling how to replace it

I just noticed that some of these are actually different themes. And while they might pass for "space exploration", there is nothing "Vasari" about them. And while they are sorta nice, the problem is that they are entirely too flat and almost mellow and too repetitive. Not a good combination.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Seems fine to me.

Like said, not like first game’s music was anything special either. Rose tinted a bit maybe? I dunno.

possibly the best sdoundtrack for a game is age of conan soundtrack, makes me want to lift wheights, grow manly chest hair, then shave it off

Would love more exciting music, especially if it dynamically changes with the match. I don't know if it already does that, but it certainly doesn't feel like it does, either way.

OG SoaSE and Rebellion soundtrack is present in sins2 game folder but is not used in game, I wonder why.

I'm loving the music. I'm glad they didn't change it much from the original. It's the voice acting that bugs. It's really good, but the advent and vasari voices annoy me quickly :D

You have a decade's worth of nostaglia from the Sins 1 OST against a game that's only been out a couple of months. Give it year or two, or maybe more?

It's a bit intense for my taste admittedly. Feels like I'm always in battle mode without any nice ambient moments like in Sins 1.
Will have to look for that sins 1 music mod:spacepony:
