I had issues with the launcher though, could not click on start. Fixed it by renaming sins2.exe to StardockLauncher.exe (and rename the old launcher). Once in game it looks fine.
After i play for a couple of hours will add the report to protondb :)
Antialiasing seems to not work properly.
Right click game > Properties > General > paste code below into launch options box
%command% /nolauncher
It was showing a gray blank background while loading before the intro videos. Should not take more than 20-30 seconds to get past it but maybe a minute if you're hardware is slower.
Not sure why it wouldn't work.

When I run the game under Proton 9 it made it through the introduction cut scene all the way to the main menu. Haven't tried playing yet, but it's promising.
I have tried with Valves Proton versions and they worked fine but I am running it with GE-Proton9-11. Maybe give that a try?
Search for ProtonUp-Qt in the pop!_shop and install. Then run ProtonUp and click add version to install the latest.
Once done in steam right click sins > Properties > Compatibility > Select Proton9-11
Edit: Just played 2 hours of a 10 vs 10 with AI with no issues.
