Thank you. My guess is they don't control their fleets any longer? They just remain where they were when their HW was destroyed?
Edit: It appears this is the case. No more of the enemy ships have moved anywhere. Looks like the AI is disconnected when they lose their HW.
I would suspect the latter.
fluff wise it makes sense offcourse the whole government of the empire sits on the Homeworld so it's loss means collaps.
This behavior doesn't occur unless you chose "HW Victory if Killed" or something along those lines when you set up the battle against AI. If it's not chosen, then the AI player keeps going and uses whatever planets it has remaining to fight you.
I can confirm the AI has completely left the game once their HW was destroyed.
