Kill home planet - what happens?
I'm playing a 10 v 10 and I have the game set so that when a race loses their home planet that they leave the game, though I'm finding that races stuff on other planets. It's not like all their planets, orbital structures, and ships just disappear. Do they essentially leave the game and stop building and flying ships once their homeworld is destroyed? Thanks!

The ownership of all their planets is immediately forfeit, so they can't build any new units (just as if their planets had been bombed out), but their fleet and orbital structures remain intact.

Thank you. My guess is they don't control their fleets any longer? They just remain where they were when their HW was destroyed?

Edit: It appears this is the case. No more of the enemy ships have moved anywhere. Looks like the AI is disconnected when they lose their HW.

the curious question here is wether that is allways the case or just a result of the HW victory.
I would suspect the latter.
fluff wise it makes sense offcourse the whole government of the empire sits on the Homeworld so it's loss means collaps.

This behavior doesn't occur unless you chose "HW Victory if Killed" or something along those lines when you set up the battle against AI. If it's not chosen, then the AI player keeps going and uses whatever planets it has remaining to fight you.

I can confirm the AI has completely left the game once their HW was destroyed.
