multiplayer???
i am very interested in this game but one thought is keeping me from taking the plunge and buying.so to settle my doubts ,i decided to check here for clarification.i love these style of games having everything from stellaris to distant worlds to master of orion.i know it does not have a campaign at the moment and it says multiplayer on the store page but if you like playing solo, can you set up these skirmish maps to just fight againsted the a.i. only and can you still play to conquer said particular map or do you fight a achieve a particular objective to win

If you're coming in with the perception that this is master of orion or stellaris, this is the wrong approach. This is starcraft on a massive scale, though it does have the same kind of higher level tactics as something like Stellaris ie: where your fleet is on the map matters, how you defend border planets, etc..

Like, I just want to emphasize that stellaris is about managing an empire, sins is about doing war, everything you do is in service of that.

That being said, yes, the game mostly expects you to run skirmish scenarios with AI or other players cooperatively or VS. ^^ Goal is to huuh, kill your enemies, always (alternatively, there's a capture a majority of the map win condition if you want to enable that, but that still requires extensive fighting).

Yes, you can play singleplayer skirmish against AIs. Victory conditions, aside from total anihhilation, include colonizing 51% of the map or taking out all the enemy capital planets. Both can be disabled on game creation.

ok thanks for the helpful advice.i was more mentioning games like stellaris to show i like games to be alot longer than a quick half hour match really.i also like to play games such as starship troopers, dune spice wars and warhammer gladius where you basically just develop a infrastructure to support your military to crush all your enemies which i believe this is more like.two more questions though have popped into my head.first can you pause in fleet battles and then this colonizing 51 percent of the map,can you adjust that percentage before the start of the game to say 75 percent if you so wish

If you just want to play vs AI; it's no problem in this game. That's what most people do. You could even come online and play PvE with other people or friends. However, some people have complained that the AI is not the brightest or at least not very aggressive.

Eventually there will probably be plenty of mods to play with many referencing popular space franchises, too, which adds value.
