Sins of a Solar Empire II

Sins of a Solar Empire II

AI ship slots exotic use. Bare bones capitals? Or just cheap none exotics? Or many?
Im playing against hard AI and they always seem to expand faster than me, especially militarily. Im playing on big maps where you can get about 9 or 10 gravity wells before encountering the neutral factions in the middle of the map.

Im just wondering how many exotics the AI are using in their ship slots. Because some tech items require exotics to research, then exotics to place into the ship slots.

Are they going in with bare bones capitals with hardly any exotic ship slot costs?

It makes me wonder how many refineries they have.

Anyone know?

Sorry, but I don't actually know if they buy items early for their ships or not, or if those are exotic items. It doesn't really matter though.

In the early game you should be getting most of your exotics from surveying. Refineries are the most expensive way to get exotics, so building refineries early is going to slow you down a lot during the initial land grab.

Hard shouldn't get any bonuses, so if you play smart you should be able to expand faster, get more ships and tech, regardless of how the ai spends its exotics.

You can click on enemy capital and see what upgrades they have.

AI rarely equip their ships until pretty late into the game, instead focusing everything into their fleet of ships. Its why equipping your own ships properly can give you a very heavy edge against the AI.

Its bad enough that outside the intro you wont even see AI use the simple consumables sometimes [though occasionally they still will]

Apparently hard Ai does not cheat. In terms of refs you should have as many as you feel you need based on your fleet build. You don't need capitals unless you are up against advent conversion (which has been nerfed). Depending on how your surveys go you might not need to make exotics for a while.

Naw i need plenty of exotics. Im a big research type of person and i need a big econ. I mean a lot of the biggest and bestest things to use are stuck behind teir 4 and teir 5 research. You need exotics for those researches and then exotics for the planet slot items, the star bases, their slot items, the capital ships and their slot items. Definitely need a ton of refineries.. even after maxing your surveys on the planets

On the biggest maps, including a starbase at each gravity well and a full armada of capital ships kitted out with the best items, you're looking at upwards of 300-400 exotics of each kind. You only need maybe 6 or 7 quarnium total, unless you're doing something really really weird.

They are just a lot more aggressive on hard. Especially if it has the ‘aggressive’ behavior. The AI just builds a ton of ships and expands like crazy.

Unless you're playing Advent/Vasari and using their Deliverance/Phase Gates respectively as those cost quarium.
Well, what about check the game replay and see what AI really does?

True. Even so, probably under 100 quarnium to fill out the very biggest map with a Phase Gate or Deliverance Cannon in every habitable system, subject to rebuilding any that you managed to lose or scuttle by mistake. Like I said, only if you're doing something weird.

Which I historically tend to do. So yeah.

Oh yeah. 100%
