Sins of a Solar Empire II

Vasari start
Yes, it is super cool and loreful, but must it always be Jarrasul? I tend to like Antorak or Kortul(even Vulkorak) better, but ... I am forced into Jarrasul.

I love Vasari Alliance, but this is ... unfortunate.

What do you think?

You can build your second capital ship as Vasari in the first 10 minutes or less.
So... I don't see any particular problem with the Vasari start.

You start off with a nice pool of exotics to work with, and frankly, you can even scrap one of the corvettes to build a capital ship of your choosing right off the bat. So you could go for 2 Jarrasul excavators.

All of that is true, but it's still not a "free capital", but "free evacuator". Again, I like the entry, but sometimes wish I could choose what I start with.

Evacuators are the only ships in the Vasari Fleet (Titans excluded) carrying enough people to start a colony. If memory serves, each Evacuator carries 15k people on board.
I too prefer other ships to the mid game utility (drain planet) a Jarrasul provides, but I tend to see this as an objective to reach, instead of something I've been deprived of early game.
Antorak Marauder is probably my favourite cap ship in the Vasari roster. Nonetheless, early game you need a fleet that can sustain itself fast.

A capital ships progression chart I usually follow is
1 Jarrasul (start) - 2 Skirantra - 3 Skirantra - 4 Marauder - 5 Skirantra - 6 Marauder - Titan

After that, usually is Vulkoras galore, with maybe 1/2 Kortul

Vasari has the benefit to get up to 3 capitals early, so I usually tend to take what I get, so I can clear and colonize faster.

i 'd take a kortul along a coloniser ship instead of a jarra, but oh well, nothing stop you from self destructing the jarra once you are all set and have a few other capital ships runing

I'd like either Kortul or Antorak. But I learned to like Jarra. I can't play other factions properly, Vasari are just up my alley, beautiful design!
