I fought some battles I know I have at least ten anti strike craft ships near the middle of my fleet, but they didn't do anything but waste their PD weapons firing on another ship.
Regardless PD ships don't actually counter strike craft, they are there for missiles primarily. Capital ships like Sova have pd that does enough damage to kill strike craft though.
needs a nerf
The problem is that anti-strikecraft are not effective enough.
**edit** Micro is very needed in this if you want max efficiency. Target ships with strike craft with your throwaways (i always use those ♥♥♥♥♥♥ corvettes to target them)
Yeah, I'm gonna be that guy:
Inertia is still a thing, even outside of a gravity well; it's still perfectly possible to pull enough G's to turn a pilot into jelly in space - even easier in fact, since there's no pesky atmosphere to slow down acceleration or rip the wings off your vehicle if you try to change direction quickly. To be able to move as quickly as the strikecraft do in game, you'd either need some magic inertia canceling tech, or remotely piloted/AI controlled craft.
Capitals with flak and suvos and dunevs (coz they have good 4.0 pd’s. Guardas with 1.0 pd is terrible against strike craft.
Would it be nice for the PD frigates to also be effective against strikecraft? Sure. But maybe to a lesser degree than va missiles.
