Sins of a Solar Empire II

Strikecraft
Strikecraft have been very strong since before Rebellion and it is very unfun to play against strikecraft spam every single game against both AI and players. Strikecraft need a massive nerf as no amount of PD guns or anti-aircraft options do anything to stop them.

I've noticed that anything which can hit their carriers quickly has a tendency to wipe them all out pretty damn fast. Certainly fighters are no real threat to most ships with any kind of armour or shields, and even lots of bombers can be dealt with relatively easily so long as there aren't a few hundred of them on the other side of a massive gravity well.

I consistently see 700 to over 1000 strikecraft, nothing can be done against it

Flak burst and other AOE abilities hard counter this level of spam.

Anti strike craft ships are busy firing their PD weapons at other ships. Ships with PD weapons need a "Prioritize missiles and strike craft with PD weapons" Default is on.

I fought some battles I know I have at least ten anti strike craft ships near the middle of my fleet, but they didn't do anything but waste their PD weapons firing on another ship.

Some of them have multiple weapons that can't target strike craft.

Regardless PD ships don't actually counter strike craft, they are there for missiles primarily. Capital ships like Sova have pd that does enough damage to kill strike craft though.

I wouldn't nerf the planes, I'd rather make the air defense stronger.
The problem is that anti-strikecraft are not effective enough.

You mean strikecraft are OP for your style of play. So nerf strikecraft so your style of play works. Instead of building your fleet to counter the strikecraft threat.

So ignorant

Strikecraft is fine
mass fighters/bombers/strikes are common for current militarise and i'd imagine even more so with space having no negatives of G force. i personally love watching the dog-fights with mass fighters and bombers. just spam some carriers yourself or even better go AA. watching the advent AA swat them outta the sky is awesome! i totally agree though the A.I does favour mass missile ships and carriers but those are easily dealt with if you micro your fighters and bombers to target the carriers themselves. can't respawn ships if the carriers are dead

**edit** Micro is very needed in this if you want max efficiency. Target ships with strike craft with your throwaways (i always use those ♥♥♥♥♥♥ corvettes to target them)

Yeah, I'm gonna be that guy:

Inertia is still a thing, even outside of a gravity well; it's still perfectly possible to pull enough G's to turn a pilot into jelly in space - even easier in fact, since there's no pesky atmosphere to slow down acceleration or rip the wings off your vehicle if you try to change direction quickly. To be able to move as quickly as the strikecraft do in game, you'd either need some magic inertia canceling tech, or remotely piloted/AI controlled craft.

And as a matter of fact, advent fighters and bombers are drones, and vasari do have magic inertia cancelling tech. This leaves the TEC as to how they do it. It could be pilots with very low life expectancy, with drugs or something to keep them alive just long enough (like in the expanse), or it could be teleoperation.

Im sorry but strikecraft can be taken out. Yes by other strike craft, or by things like the capital ships flack ability. I was playing as tec enclave with like 90% capital ships, all with the flak ship slot. Goodbye strikecraft lol. It was fun to watch because i like you were sick of losing to all the strikecraft. Funny i went mainly suvo’s. Suvo’s with flak ship slot. I really ripped into enemy fleets. Titans ain’t s**t. Starbases ain’t s**t. Other fleets ain’t s**t. Ain’t takin’ no s**t from nobody…

Capitals with flak and suvos and dunevs (coz they have good 4.0 pd’s. Guardas with 1.0 pd is terrible against strike craft.

Strike craft are fine. They have counters, mainly Flak Burst on your capitals and your own fighters.

Would it be nice for the PD frigates to also be effective against strikecraft? Sure. But maybe to a lesser degree than va missiles.
