Sins of a Solar Empire II

Sins of a Solar Empire II

A couple of questions...
I have never heard of this game title before seeing this one. I was curious of the predecessor, but I cannot tell which title is supposed to be Sins of the Solar Empire (I). I am thinking that it might be the Rebellion title from 2012, but I am not sure.

I used to love Civilization game, Civ V was my last. I thoroughly enjoyed Homeworld and currently playing Stellaris. How would this game compare to those titles?

I am not much for PvP. I do like doing co-op against insane odds, playing with family and friends. Would that be an option in the game?

And lastly, what is your favorite color?

I am on the fence on purchasing this game, but searching the game on Steam and the internet has not helped much, being I could not figure out what game this is a sequel for.

1. Sins2 is the sequel to Sins of a Solar Empire of which the latest version on Steam is Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion

2. Sins of a Solar Empire 2 sits between Homeworld (tactical, single fleet battles) and 4X games like Civ and Stellaris (large scale strategy, empire building). You build an empire and manage it but you also build fleets and manage those. Tactical combat and empire strategy. But, its not like the Total War series where empire manage is turnbased and combat is real-time. The whole game is real-time - but at a measured pace. It's very low APM.

3. Multiplayer co-op vs Ai (Comp-stomp) and Single player vs Ai are by the far the most popular modes but there is a PvP option as well.

4. Blue.

5. It comes out on Steam later this summer.

Fantastic! The videos answered most of my questions. Even like the pause in single player, as I run a non-profit YouTube channel that does real time science stuff. If we get a solar flare big enough, a solar storm, large earthquake and so forth, I tend to drop everything else and get on it. Not being able to pause in a game has led to many deaths and or defeats in other games, lol.

You linked the evolution of Sins part 1 twice, so I switch the link in my response. Looks that there will be another video or two to come.

The only other question I have, maybe because I am a science guy, are there events like ICMEs/solar storms where we have to navigate a plasma field? Will there be events like solar flares where we will have disruption to communication and tracking frequencies? I did not see it mentioned in the videos, so I figured that I would ask. Maybe it is over the top, but I would definitely enjoy such an addition.
Also, since blue is your favorite color, here is the most recent flare on 131 angstroms on the western rim. It is colored blue for faster identification of wave length by NASA/SDO and NOAA/GOES.

I am definitely on board now. I am still curious about the solar interactions. This game looks solid and fun.

I often find myself trying to maneuver my ships in Stellaris and control their targets, but it sadly is not an option.

The line of fire being important with each projectile having its own calculation is fantastic. I am already planning my first game.

Cheers and Game On!

Hey, solar interactions are there if you are directly at the "gravity well" of the star. I say "gravity well" as in Sins defines additional short range within star, where you ships can fly by.

Those stars can have different abilities which influence your ships.
When it comes to stellar effects outside of that limited gravity well - Sins:Rebellion had a DLC "Stellar Phenomena" which would fit into your description.

Current Sins 2 epic version does not have that second part, but it's nice to hear that people would have interest. We are actively developing the game, and shaping it to the liking of our fans, is of great importance :)
