Multiplayer or coop can't just be "added" for the general case. It's a lot of extra work for an uncertain outcome at higher maintenance cost.
That being said, we may still buy one copy to share if it turns out that it is a good bit above the average game of this genre. Best of luck to the devs.
Except that this game is intended to have multiplayer. They openly said it wouldn't be in at launch but they were intending to add it later. So this whole comment is off base.
Like this game, factorio didn't launch MP. Their devs even said, it's not as easy as adding a few lines of code. Most developers state that they want the core game finished before tackling the rats nest of code that is MP.
If the devs for this game said they intend to add MP, expect it to be after the core game is finished.
I am greatly disappointed.
Regrettably, I won't purchase Salt 2 unless and until such time as it includes multiplayer coop.
If its coop the way most of these games are, there is no extra maintenance cost since there is no need for them doing the hosting. It is extra work tho for sure and every patch might break things for coop that might not happen with sp, that for sure.
Will buy Salt 2 when there is co-op.
If something you've added early just doesn't work with multiplayer and you can't find a workaround, you have to redesign that entire feature or remove it entirely.
The playerbase will demand this and the devs will surrender and deliver IMO.
Reacting on a review, my hopes are that the fighting part STAYS simple, the islands become MORE diverse and the grind will become LESS.
Unless you are a developer, with experience, simply saying making coop from the beginning would be easier may not be the case at all. getting the game in a state that money inflow happens (early access) can ensure you have the funds to incorporate coop later. Making a game coop from the beginning is very expensive and time consuming and I would venture a guess that indie developers cannot afford to do that from the start.
