That being said, here's some games I've played that I suggest.
- Very Charming characters
- Bright, Vibrant, Colorful art style
- Slice of Life, very wholesome heartwarming scenes
- A little bit of romance
- Lots of different endings, I believe somewhere around 20-30 endings!
- Content Warning: Explores themes of abuse, death, child death, and trauma. A little more heavy than Until Then, but nothing too crazy.
- Multiple endings
- Engaging puzzle gameplay
- Story is shrouded in some crazy mysteries.
- Dark, heavy themes. Lots of character deaths and blood. Not so much gore, but I think both has you investigate crime scenes and dead bodies.
- Both series are quite long and have multiple games. If you love the first of each game, you won't have to worry about waiting for their sequels!
- Very compelling narrative that ranges from comedic to deeply profound
- Very interesting character(s). You'll see what I mean when you play it.
- Strong psychological horror elements
- Similar game length to Until Then, maybe a little shorter
- Strong batches of characters. Some you're going to hate and others you absolutely love. And a few you won't really care for.
- Twists and turns that keep you on your toes.
- Feels like a TV show. It's a very entertaining series to watch someone else play.
- Easy to relax to games. Kick your feet up and enjoy the character interactions unfolding before you.
- Gameplay is super easy. Just get the drinks right anf you'll be golden.
- Very wholesome and sweet. Yet, also explores themes of communication, relationships, and the hardships of everyday life. It's quite grounded as a story.
- Soooooo many characters! And I love all of them to bits
Okay, hoped this helped! Enjoy your time exploring the very awesome world of visual novels
In fact I like Space for the Unbound quite a bit more because the game itself is more fun to play with more actual gameplay than just story.
The game is also a more focus experience which progress and gets to the point much faster, and only requires one playthrough to get the full experience.
Detention is also a good choice because it has a very good story, but it's horror. More gameplay too.
Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! also has a great, and surprising, story.
Anno: Mutationem
Just one of my top picks for VN.
Agreed! In particular, the first Life is Strange is a must try. It became a sleeper hit back in 2015 for a reason.
