Worth buying/playing if you have no clue about Filipino culture?

I am heavily interested in the game, but many reviewers and the devs say that this game is heavily influenced by Filipino culture and politics.

I've been asking myself if you can understand the story without knowing much about Filipino culture.

As someone who knew nothing about filipino culture, no. The game doesn't rely on it at all to tell its story, but someone who is familiar with it may have a couple extra chuckles at seeing the references, that's the extent of it.

Same as above. Knew nothing about Filipino culture, and what I came away with was a satisfying and understandable story... and some Google searches about some of the food/drink they brought up.

It should be no problem at all. I could follow the story without problems and I only knew a single thing about Filipino culture.

It's 100% worth buying! It helped having a Filipino boyfriend with some of the background sounds / soundtracks, as well as some signage in the backgrounds, but overall you don't need to know anything at all!
