BEWARE OF STEAM CLOUD SAVES AND KEEP LOCAL BACKUPS
Hi guys,

So I had to reset my PC to deal with some stuff, and I thought my Until Then progress would be saved because it says Steam Cloud was synced.

But I just reinstalled it, and I lost everything !

I managed to find out where saves were located using this :

Steam Remote Storage

So the saves are
.res
files (mainly
savegame.res
) located in

C:\Users\<YOUR USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Until Then

AppData
is a hidden folder so you want to make sure those are visible by toggling it in File Explorer.
You can also just right-click on the Windows Icon on your Taskbar, and click Run, then type
%APPDATA%
and click OK.

Thankfully, I had done a backup of the
Users
directory of my previous install so I was able to recover my saves.

But beware, it seems that Steam Cloud Auto Save is not working correctly as the file (
savegame.res
) present in
Steam Remote Storage
doesn't have the same size as my actual save (625 bytes VS 1,968 bytes ) so KEEP A BACKUP OF YOUR SAVES IF YOU INTEND CHANGING DEVICE.

Yup, seems I lost my save and didn't have a backup sadly, Been trying to fix it until I saw this so it doesn't seem like I'm the only one with the issue.

Cloud saves for this particular game is borked for some reasons. It was syncing earlier though I haven't tried it on my PC since I've been playing it on the Deck.

Edit: Just checked on PC and cloud saves seems to be missing on my end. Other games have cloud saves working fine.

Steam Remote Storage shows files are backed up. I downloaded my save file and it seems to work fine. Not having the same issue as Loklann

If that doesn't work, please try downloading the "savegame.res" file in your Steam Remote Storage (https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorage) and replacing the existing one in the folder specified below. You may want to make a backup of the existing "savegame.res" file first, just in case.

Windows - %APPDATA%\Until Then
SteamOS / Linux - ~/.local/share/Until Then

If that still doesn't work, please let me know. I'd be happy to generate a save file for you so you can continue where you last dropped off. Thank you!

Sorry to hear that. The only explanation I could think of is you might have chanced upon our disabling/enabling of cloud saves at the perfect time and something weird happened.

Anyway, please let me know which scene you were at last so I can help generate a save for you. If you don't remember the name, you may describe it, but don't forget to censor it as spoilers :)

Guess I just got really unlucky lol. Anyway, I stopped right after I loaded into Chapter 2 - Monotone

Just finished the game, but now my save only lets me select the first chapter, when i started playing on my Deck. Sucks because i wanted to revisit specific moments

This may be intentional. Is the first scene in the first chapter Mark waking up in the morning or Mark playing a video game at night? If it's the latter, this is intentional! Keep playing and scenes will unlock eventually. If it's the former, however, this may be a bug. Please let me know; thanks!
