Same, if there was just 1 last cycle going through the repaired world, it would be a grand ride out of the game.
It did made me process it after finishing the game. They did meet again, but not in the circumstances we expect. But there is a random chance you know, the whole probability that was themed in the game (quantum stuff and all).
For me the Epilogue was not to be done. Only the part of reaching Cath, obv that had to be there to close the circle.
But Imho, they should have just closed it there leaving a real open ending and for us to imagine what kind of things could happen without The Ruling etc
Or (I know the following would have required lots of works. I would have been happy with just the reaching Cath scene, no Epilogue) they could have made a 4th cycle giving us the possibility to explore less important characters, visiting all locations (maybe via some kind of choices) and maybe even give us, through choices, the possibility to give Mark one of different variants of the ending of Epilogue.
Maybe one where he is just with his closest friends, like in the Epilogue, or in a romantic relation with one of the characters we choose via choices.
Giving some real freedom and all.. And a real open ending.
P.S.
I am not saying all of this bcs I wanted Mark x Nicole or other things (Tbh I was rooting for Cath from start to finish. Would have loved to play as her, even seeing some actual slice of her private life at the end of the 2nd cycle)
Anyway. Yeah, I am just saying all of this bcs I really believe the Epilogue does not fit well with the rest. Not because of what there is in it, but bcs it writes its own story without giving a chance to really imagine and live for real after Mark was free from the cycle that repeated that slice of his life 100+ times.
That's wishful thinking and projection on your end. Cath is a lesbian, men and women can be platonic friends.
