You need to use the viewing glass to identify other clues and find the plant... you don't have it yet. Be sure to read the instructions you got with the glass for how to "turn it on"

i didnt get the note about the glass from the mailman yet but i need it to get the elderphinium so im kinda just stuck

You need to find Red Abony, and use it on the device to power it up. Then you can use that to look at various documents such as the map to progress the game.
