Where the heck do I get elixir recipes from?

I've only received one elixir recipe so far while playing through the game, but I've since had customers coming in asking about others. The hints act like I have a recipe available to read, but I can't find anything anywhere in my items. Am I supposed to have these available to me? If not, where do I find them?

The customers only ask for things that are accessible to you, but you may have to find them first. Some of the elixirs will only become available to you if you on specific paths through the story, but if you choose a path that doesn't provide a given recipe, then you won't need the respective elixir either.

Which elixir are you missing? If I recall correctly, you should always get the recipes for Baylock's, St. Quentin's, and the Elixir of the Damned. Have you found the secret compartment in your desk, and have you received and opened the wooden disc with the lock in the center?
